How long is reasonable to wait on a shop?

Supposed to have it back this week, I forgot to call the tow guy a few weeks ago.
Adding a winch, decking, working lights, brakes, etc to my trailer is on the list... so paying $150 vs me spending 3 or 4 hours fighting it is $$ well spent.

The refund of my money though, hopefully doesn't require going to court. Haven't gotten anything yet.

Small claims court will tell you to pound sand getting your money back if you don’t have a signed contract agreement for the work you hired him out to do stating the deposit on a receipt. My guess as the way you’ve been running this whole thing, you don’t have any proof of that which means, bye bye money. Maybe threaten to throat punch him or fuck his sled dog to get it back… unless you’re a passive bitch and take it up your own ass.

Either way, good luck on your self inflicted mission and, um, God speed?!?

They are only open like 9-5 M-F and I was busy as shit with firewood, several projects and medical appointments before leaving for work, so driving to a spot with cell reception during that time wasn't exactly top priority.

Nah, it's been in my yard since a bit after Labors Day.
Busy as work and been sick last several days. Worst part is my random smells problem is back, bad and dizziness a bit.
Bad enough a bit ago it smelled like someone smoking a cigar or incense to the point I started wheezing... but only I could smell it.

Last time this happened is when I got a head MRI and they found the brain tumor... so not good.

Or and found out my grandmother is on her death bed and I'm a POS for suggesting I not go visit as it'll be over $2000 for last minute tickets. Turned into a fight about how I can spend money on other things but not this.
Never was super close with her, and even when I visited last winter she didn't remember me, or anyone.

the world doesn't revolve just around you, I don't know your family, but I am guessing there are other people in it too

That's assuming family are folks he'd want to see, and that there's sufficient reason to use that time + resources to do so. Family ain't entitled to shit they didn't earn.

Other than your own children, it's not your fault you're related to family members, and family members need to earn respect just like "normal" folks. Anyone who says, "you have to forgive Aunt Becky for being a piece of shit because she's family" goes right in my POS file for general soft-headedness.

I just say that because people forget that not always experiencing a death is about the dead person, sometimes it is about being there for family as they experience the death in the family

Unfortunately a few months ago we went through this, and our household would have loved to have some family to lean on, but they only see themselves in this world and couldn't be bothered with things that they don't care about. (This falls under your second paragraph you posted)
