How Did You Know You're Getting Older?

You smoke? I got carded buying alcohol until very recently, of course when I graduated from HS I looked like I was 10 y/o too.
Up here at Fred Meyer they don't care how old you look, it's store policy they read your driver's license or state I.D.
for any alcohol purchase.

had another gal ask me if I was over 21. Then she asked how long had I been over 21:laughing: "Its 200 fawking degrees out side. I'm not doin that kinda math!" She said that was the right answer :lmao:

Animal fats are best. All seed oils produce carcinogens when heated above a certain temp.

That being said, when I do use oil I use olive oil. Can't talk the wife into getting rid of the veggie oil though as "that's not what the recipe calls for".
Like I told her, all recipes were converted from lard and butter over the last 80 years. Grandma's special pie recipe was using lard and butter until she got cheap.
I grew up with the Italian grandfather who had that big tin of STAR olive oil in the kitchen. He gave Mr spoonfuls of it for every ailment I had.

I love olive oil. The Irish that I live with weren't happy I didnt like Wesson oil 🤣

We have peanut oil for frying and olive oil for everything's else.

It's heart healthy and you know it. And... it's priced roughly at the same as evoo levels so, why not?
I don't have a good answer for that:homer: other than there ain't a whole foods within 2 hours of here and the only avo oil is 'artisan' shit that is more expensiver.

Interesting, i find it at any grocer in the west... at least the western part i live in.

Aldi, grocery outlet, kroger, winco, the major chains, they all have it.

edit; i've never shopped at whole foods, too spendy. I'm sure trader joes does...

Why is it every decade before 2000 had distinct aspects to it. But since 2000, it has all been about the same shit other than cell phones getting better. No memorable changes in fashion, music, food, etc.

Oh wait.... maybe that is a symptom of me getting older? dammit.
I notice styles form past decades just get recycled and come back in fashion. I noticed several of my students these past 2 semesters are wearing ripped jeans again......as well as vintage concert tees from oldies like Green Day:lmao:

12-19 yr olds (girls only) are wearing smooth leg/flare bottom pants again

I'll send you a few bottles if you think the misses will cook w/ em. :smokin:
I appreciate the offer, but if I can talk her into it we can get it through the mail. I'm not amish:laughing:
She's a stubborn red-head. It's taken 4 years to get her to use butter instead of oil where it is easy. I've never used it, but I've been told that avo oil can leave a bit of aftertaste. That true? EVOO does sometimes so it wouldn't surprise me.
Honestly, I bet veggie oil does to, we are just all collectively used to it.

ETA: Just jumped on the wally world app. I guess GV brand is available now at our local store? Still 4.5x the cost of veggie oil, but since I've gone on my butter/fat kick we don't go through it very fast. Fuck it, gonna pick up a bottle and have it in the house.

A few here and there reusing an old style isnt the same.

30s depression, paper shacks, apple sellers
40s WW2, metal scrap colleccton, victory gardens
50s Poodle skirts, saddle shoes, big as shit cars, greased hair, doowop music
60s plaid shirts, small houses, horn rimmed glasses, hippies, cigarettes
70s Disco, bell bottoms, hippies some more, avacado appliances
80s shitty cars, penny loafers, Moms against drugs, electronic music, preppies, MTV
90s grunge, flip phones, VHS, compact discs, rollerblades, oak kitchen cabinets
00s I-phone/smart phone, dvds.

It's flavorless. I can't taste anything but i'm an avocado a day person, if not 2 x a day and i cook with avo oil frequently. It has high bioavailability. Ymmv...

The fucking Costco Kirkland brand olive oil is great for cooking; It has a really high smoke point. I have also been using Ghee for some of the Asian cooking. But Bacon is king in my kitchen! I chop it up into small bits and slow cook it to render some fat out before cooking the main ingredients. Many times I leave the meat bits in the dish.

I would love to find and old rotary pay phone; but dang are they pricey! :lmao::smokin::lmao::smokin:

I swear every dork under the age of 25 around here is rockin a mullet

My ball sac is not as tight and has dropped, but thankfully my dick still works as it should.
Watching all the Musicians I listened to growing up, dying.
Having to drive slower as it helps my concentration, I am not driving under the limit as I am not an asshole driver.
Getting $3684.56 from SSI every month.

I just took off the noisy dual exhaust of my 8.1L chevy and put a stock quiet style muffler with single side pipe back on... That and my back hurts 24/7

I definitely don't feel old (61) from a physical perspective and my hobbies/activities don't really align to a 61 YO, but a couple things that usually get me if I stop to think about it:

How long it's actually been since HS graduation (seems like it wasn't that long ago - 1981)
I started working at this company (1989) as an experienced engineer before 3/4's of my team (17 people) were born
