These things are like whack-a-mole. They pop up, get deleted and pop up. The ones that keep popping up they are forced to acknowledge. If they can keep them down they can ignore them

Who says they don't? Clearly this is a situation of failed protection, but why is still unclear. Cover story may still be in the works, or it will be released on a timeline of choice.

Well, I hope Alex the convicted liar will be useful and truthful. Daughter has is student and has free WSJ. WSJ reporting his car has been found and there were " explosives" in it. BIL has provided military security at the highest levels including Modi of India and told me there is no way, zero, security could be that bad. I value his word. Ja Hind !!

But, you had Basic Rifle Marksmanship training. Not everyone has...and yes, I qual'd Expert every time with 40/40

Edit to add: For us, that was about 2 weeks during White Phase... 10 hours a day, 6 days.

And this guy did it under the eye of the SS and knew he would be drawn down on?

A few shooters in the past few years have had "nice" ARs. More then one has has a Daniel Defense. Doesn't seem like they are using $600 PSAs.

I know a guy who does competitive rifle shooting, and he was pissed when he went to basic training at 34 years old that they issued him a rifle with no rifling left in the bore. He also said if you hit even the miniumum qualification you were done shooting because they were conserving ammo. Couldn't earn his Expert marksmanship qualification until 2 years later on a national guard outing.
 
Everyone here knows that I'm not fan of Donald Trump, but I do have to say that showing the literal calm under fire and presence of mind to recognize and capitalize on the helluva photo op after taking one in the ear and coming mere inches away from instant death is... well, that's pretty fucking impressive.

I worked an event which required me to be investigated by the SS, they didn't tell us who would be coming or exactly when, but it turned out to be GHWB while Clinton was in office. As I was going to be in the room with him, I had to do a short interview with a guy from SS which amounted to mostly verifying my identity, places lived, countries traveled to, that kind of thing. Day of show and there's 6 or so agents I could easily identify, maybe more that I couldn't. This for a 1 hour guest speaker gig, and a backstage meet and greet with special peeps. Ahead of the event I had to take agents with dogs into the space above the ballroom, through our shop and office. and they asked about access points even though I'm sure they had full blueprints or at least fire evac diagrams. It was pretty thorough in my opinion, and I'm sure there was much, much more to it that I didn't see, I was just the guy running the mics.

A couple years later we hosted the annual Governor's conference, with all 50 in attendance plus Clinton. We didn't know Clinton was going to attend, but same drill, short interview with those that would be in the room, but this time there was WAY more agents in and around the room.

Anyway, I'm sure they ramp up security based on the threat level assessment, and a Trump rally has got to rate pretty high on that chart. It does seem pretty strange that the rooftop was not covered.

The alive guy has gauge holes in his ears. Dead guy does not. Alive guy caterpillar eyebrows, dead guy thinner eyebrows. In my "expert" :laughing: opinion, two different people

When I went through BRM in basic training, our DI's told us to drop any left over ammo (if you timed out) into the dirt for the next guy to add to his magazine.

I also had to do BRM Qual as me and then as PVT Smith. PVT Smith was a bad shooter, he knocked down half the targets of the PVT to his left, who couldn't hit the broadside of a barn... PVT Green to his right, had the same problem and took out half of his neighbors targets. Both PVT Smith and Green were mere sharpshooters.

Well I guess your suspicion of me is well founded since I have not posted any tech or any build threads. The news I posted last night just came on the news at the time. I wasn't on this thread all day and was catching up when the news of the shooter being confirmed. In fact, going though this thread, there was another suspect in the shooting.

So I guess I go post a thread on my POS 97 Dodge tow rig that I have posted on two other forums.

In PA , some of the local PoPo's are what you call "bumkins". They were proabably not briefed or drilled on protocol in working with the SS. :stirthepot:

The son of one of my wheeling buddies enlisted in the Army, circa 2006, and he said he was the only one in his platoon that had ever fired a firearm before. He said there was at least one that got their qual by the DI doing the shooting for them, (I hope those types end up behind a keyboard).

OTOH, I took a 4 day pistol class and to get your Distinguished Graduate cert, you had to get 90+ on the test. A young couple from England (on their honeymoon), both got their DG using rented pistols and range ammo...neither had even held a firearm before the start of class. As I'm sure you know, shooting is a skill that can be taught or even self-taught with all the youtube videos out there by qualified people.
