Yeah, it is easy for most anyone with any rifle training at all to hit a stationary, inanimate, head-sized target at 150 yards. But when that target is flesh and blood (another human), I'd venture to guess none of you could control your nerves and adrenaline to hit the mark 100% of the time. Plus the target is shifting, not necessarily "moving", so the bullseye will not actually be the size of a head.

But carry on and keep telling us how bad-ass you'd be in this situation. One shot, one kill, right?!?!?!?:flipoff2::shaking:

What? You new here? All the paper and steel puncher Rambos here could take out anybody anywhere. I mean none of them have ever seen combat or had a gun pointed at them while shooting but you its the same thing right. Id like to see how they perform with somebody just shooting back at them with sim rounds or even just paint balls. Im guessing they wouldnt be quite as good as they imagine.

Youre assuming all of the info here is accurate. Im 100% sure its not.
 
Possible scenarios, correct me if I’m wrong.

1. secret service scouts area and misses roof within 300 yards of trump, doesn’t have anyone around that group of buildings. Guy finds the group of buildings ss missed and doesn’t have anyone around, takes rifle and scales building before shooting trump. Ss ignores bystanders for 30 seconds to a minute in order for guy to get shots off.

2. secret service scouts location, makes a plan doesn’t get enough agents and does the best with what they have in non ideal circumstances. Most people not on alert because in “trump county”. Guy finds the group of buildings ss missed and doesn’t have anyone around, takes rifle and scales building before shooting trump. Ss ignores bystanders for 30 seconds to a minute in order for guy to get shots off.

3 . Secret Service knows what’s going on and is in on the hit, maybe only a few people but enough to set the stage. They only have to delay actions for a few moments in order for the guy to take out trump, they are understaffed as it is. Plan is to let guy shoot trump with a headshot on national tv and then take out the guy letting the news/state paint the picture it wants about the guy and the situation.

I have never shot at a human, but the closet scenario to what happened I’ve been in was a deer trying to chase a doe but didn’t want to come out into the open. He kept popping in and out of the brush for < 1 second intervals, spinning around, it was not a typical calm hunting situation. Distance was over 150 yards, I was sitting in a climber with my foot up on the upper rail, and elbow on my knee as a rest. Was able to send a round and hit my point of aim.

I have zero formal rifle training, but my range requires you to shoot a 1” 3 shot group at 100 yards, sitting at the bench, to use their 400 yard range. I have done it with every scoped rifle I own, and without wind and mirage shooting at 400 from a solid platform isn’t difficult. The first time I did it I ranged the target, dialed my scope, and hit 1” from my point of aim.

I think it was just some dumb kid who probably had a $400 AR, the fact the he got close didn’t mean he had elite military training, and I don’t think it was some highly trained operative that shot him in the ear on purpose, especially if he was moving right before the shot.

It does seem to be almost willfully negligent to not have had an officer on that rooftop despite their “perimeter”, but maybe it was something dumb like the guy who was supposed to be up there got told to go somewhere else, and I imagine with as many of these rallies as they do and zero problems so far they become overly casual.

Final thought, if you were going to try something like this, why wouldn’t you attempt to match their uniform to “blend in”, especially if you’re open carrying a rifle. It seems like if nothing else it could help cause enough confusion to buy 30 seconds before they figured it out.

I carry around self protection but I’m a horrible shot under normal conditions, can’t imagine getting better with people around me.
