The "bumper" is booger welded right to the factory chrome bumper. (hopefully this poisoned the "fabricator"). Then the road sign "skid plate" is completely unsupported at the aft end and is primed to crash into the steering linkage and core support as soon as it encounters a tumbleweed. :homer:

I hope you told them how stupid they are.

What's going on with that front end? Is it two wheel drive?
That type of deal is sort of common now on big gay mud trucks. No idea what it takes to do 8t but I assume it was created to to use the cheap surplus IFS axle assemblies.

TAK4 maybe?

Sounds reasonable.

I've seen those IFS assemblies for sale on govplanet and wondered WTF anybody would do with one of those. Learned me something today.

I had a idea in my head for years to get a set of the 7ton (I think) IFS and IRS sets for a large rv build. I could see the ride being better than a solid axle front and rear and maybe be able to keep overall height down. Idea is kinda like why most trucks/suvs went to IFS for better road manners and ride, not like an rv is going to be really beat on off-road but would be nice to have the 4x4 capabilities. They are almost perfect except they don't use the standard semi truck bolt pattern so your limited on finding more street focused wheel/tire setups.

Looks like what was popular to do with the rc crawlers from years ago. Take your ifs irs emaxx axles and build a high clearance straight axles using the center, cvs, and knuckles with small tubing. Just on a "full size" scale. Like the atomic axle above, but a bigger scale I guess.

I saw some Atomic looking axles a few years back at RWP and googled shit for days trying to find build threads etc. just to see the tech but came up with nothing.

Interesting, hopefully something like that is the new go to axle.
Seems like a replacement nightmare to pull apart tho....

Seems like they would be really difficult to package in a full bodied rig.

10-15 years ago they were $20k.

A place out of santa rosa ca originaly design them. And yes, they had massive problems with them. Mostly destroying the half shafts.
