when we were kids, only difference was instead of the button attaching the guitar string to the motor shaft it was a rubber eraser

Some quality work here on the golf cart o dragged home yesterday. License plate folded in half and screwed to the plastic electric box cover as a heat shield for the equally ghetto wired, taped, and I don’t know what else exhaust tube.

Tape deck motor and a guitar string. Melted checkers mixed with bar soap for some really good black ink.

Ive had pencil lead (not lead) and state issue toothpaste in my arm for over 20 years now. Lol.
Thread from a blanket, staple from court papers sharpened on the walls and shoved into a pencil eraser. One of the many brilliant ideas in the past.

Here’s some more from the golf cart now that I am finally tearing it down to work on it. The exhaust is just, wow. I also love the coil pack hung with zip ties so it hit the exhaust and melted the casing.

is that aluminum tape?

My Pops used beer cans for those types of repairs. :D
Yep. Aluminum tape. there is also some bailing wire or similar wrapped around it by the flange with aluminum tape over it. And the floating mount welded to a chunk of larger exhaust tubing so the whole thing just slides and rattle in it. I’m on Summit Racing right now pricing 1.25” exhaust tubing and a small bullet muffler for it.

Wonder how long the shank is on those joints, 4" stick out, 1/4" engaged. That's a whole lot of quality engineering there, good spot for those pics.

Funny, I was looking at Squamch’s signature photo. I have a dog and a shotgun very similar to that. For years the dog had a blue collar too.

That's what happens when you have a pile of bike parts, a welder, and a lot of beer. Built a few deathtraps over the years due to that combination.

Can’t say I like it, but I don’t see it as anymore of a death trap compared to other cycles. Let’s face it, most of the danger comes from the other vehicles on the road.
