Garage Organized? Pics

I do have a couple of these. Works great to get stuff off of the floor.

Jesus Christ...how can you even find anything in there?
Strangely I'm kinda used to it, and can find most tools quickly. It's sad really. I do try to clear off the table every couple years. Right now is the worst time of the year because I've been in full time fishing mode 100% of the time I'm not doing my real job. Plus recently I've done a bunch of back to back jobs in there.

I suspect there's more clusterfucks like mine than what gets posted. Frankly I'm busy raising a family and making hay while the sun is shining, so the shop gets messy.

Spent most of the day in there. Cleanest the steel table has been since I moved it in there. To do list is to hang the Idealarc 250 on the wall someday. I really need to make some kind of rack to hold screwdrivers and hammers.

my shop has trails thru it! It gets cleaned out to get a new project in or out, but it doesn't last long! I have pallet racking, cabinets on the walls, all kinds of storage. I just have too much stuff.

While not my garage or either shop per se, it is my firearm corner. Right now I have firearm stuff in different locations in my basement. J have a shop in half of my basement and I have some ammo (just a little bit ) over there along with other stuff. I won’t to move it all over to where my safe and rest of my little bit of ammo :laughing::laughing:) is at.

So I have a hodgepodge of kitchen cabinets put together that works great together and a leftover countertop on top of them that I’ve been using for a couple years now.

I got a couple 36” wide 18” deep steelcase cabinets given to me I’m putting to good use. These are not designed to be hung off of a wall, so I had to fabricate a hanging bracket system to support them.

I got all that done and set the cabinets in there last night. I think I should have enough time this coming weekend to finish setting them up and moving my firearm stuff over into them.

High shelf for sure. This was shortly after finishing the build-out. It's getting pretty packed in there now. I should purge some crap.

How about a high welder shelf?

Built this today for the Idealarc 250. Can't use the forklift or skid steer to get it up there directly (unless I flip the forks), and I need a way to get it down occasionally. Plan is to attach a piece of unistrut to the ceiling as a trolley and make a turnbuckle to hang it. Should be able to slide it over to the shelf, then release tension until it's sitting on the shelf.

It'll be nice to get it off the welding table, and it'll be VERY nice to have it closer to the door for outside welding duties. I've only got about 50 feet worth of leads.

I got pics somewhere of my carport .
OMG was it a crowded mess
For almost 19 years we had a 11x24 carport with walls on most of one side and one end , and the floor was asphalt, that sloped 16 inches from one end to the other ,
The asphalt was so soft that was laid down plywood so the engine hoist and Jack stands wouldn’t sink .
And the vehicle was always at an angle

When we did the LS swap on the 76 Chevy pickup we removed the front wheels and set the hubs on the ground and the truck was level .

We dug out the crawl space under the house and built a almost 1/2 basement ,
We had a lot of junk in the crawl so it got moved to the carport .

Once the basement was finished , everything that was in the carport got moved to the new 1/2 basement

Then when we got ready to build the garage
We had to empty the 12x24 tool shed, so it could be relocated in the yard , we put everything that was in the shed , in the basement.

We had tons of junk and old car parts out behind the tool shed that got taken to the recycler . We took 900 lbs of axles and transmissions and springs etc to get sent to China and come back as rebar or something .

Watching the guys move the shed with their “shed mule “ was neat,
Like a tracked Dingo with a forklift mast on it .

Now the garage is almost finished and we are starting to move some stuff into it

We have moved everything three times and it’s fixing to be number four to it’s final destination.

I can find the pics when I’m bored , but it’s embarrassing to post them and show the IBB how big a mess I had

No one has anything from NewAge products? I’ve been considering them for my garage for the past couple years, and am almost decided on a layout that will work for my 2-car garage. I’d love to see any setups using that…
I picked up 2 of the Costco pro series sets as I was done looking at stuff everywhere. I've loading the shit out of them and there's not a lot of deflection. Pricey, but buy once, something something.

Have been working on mine off and on all winter between 3 linking the Toyota and plowing snow every other day for months, it’s a work in progress.

Need to get my metal off the ground, and the wife’s project furniture out of there and it will open it up a bunch.

Starting moving things off the floor onto the walls. Furnace mounted on the wall, cordless tool cabinet mounted above the toolbox, added a second set of boxes to the bench. Upper has tools I use a lot, lower has oddball tools (riveter, dimple die, brake flaring tools, etc). Welders and plas situated in the center. (Have a diesel engine and toy trans sitting on the floor behind them that needs to go away). Have a cabinet/shelf that needs moved to a wall and a set of lockers to back them up. Small tool storage on shelf (ac stuff, saws/nailers, diff building tools, gears), lockers are currently empty, but will get shelves in them for things like welding gear (spare wire, extra helmets, rod, etc). Also going to finish the shelves along the walls hanging from the ceiling. Great for getting coolers, camping gear, spare parts, etc off the ground. Use the wasted space.

Been tripping over these axle stands for years now and could never store them anywhere that wasn't awkward. Saw these wall mounts and I had a sliver of wall space that wasn't occupied, so I shopped around and ended up with some from Ruffstuff. Even spent the time to paint the fuckers.

That is an awesome solution

I typically way overthink thing, and would be concerned with the weight pulling on that stud, but I can't argue when it's working.

Hell no. But I’m open to pics. Mine is 2 bays, 24x24 with about a 10’ ceiling. It’s constantly cluttered and messy. I am adhd and I have to constantly say to myself “don’t put it down, put it away.”

Note: I might be suspending the shelf rather than knee-ing it shortly. The knees make it difficult to hang pegboard and the like.
Note2: Jeabus Christo my shop is a freaking disaster right now. I gotta get serious about doing some cleaning in here.

Shop has been looking like a tornado went through and its been pissing me TF off. Buckled down today and reorganized/remodeled/cleansed/purged. Removed an 8' trailer load of shit that needs to live in my storage trailer, not the shop. Still got a bunch to do but I'm feeling better at the moment.

I've really been enjoying seeing the ways other people organize, so I guess I might as well post my mess. This is the 3rd shop I have built in 15 years, and I have learned a bit every time. I try to keep everything I can off the floor, my solution to hanging jack stands was 2x4's and some .99 cent hangers from Home Depot at just the right angle !!
