Garage Organized? Pics

I've got materials and an idea in my head to build a skinny chop saw table on castors, but it will be chop saw ONLY. I don't want that thing near anything else i own.

couple of those pipe roller stands and a chop saw on a post would work pretty well.

Thats next on my list. The chop saw is in its own room with the tube, but everything is farmer fab an good 'nuff:laughing: I'm annoyed every time I have to use the thing

So, carrying on with my shitshow. I'm mucking out the future stairwell.

It's about 6.5 feet wide. You can see the poured concrete landing (giant shelf). This area will get stairs from the floor to the landing, then stairs from the landing to the second floor wood shop.

I need to decide to move or leave the two huge separated shelf units (you can see them, painted beige). Not sure how to best utilize the space under/behind the stairs.

Crappy paint drawing. Sideview of stairs:

Would you go with layout # 1 or Layout #2.----Edit: Went with option #2 because it gave more wall space on the first floor, and a better railing arrangement for the second floor. The boy helped my all day mucking it out and unbolting those shelves to relocate to other wall. Shitcanned a lot of stuff.

Stumbled across this last night, lots of little organization tips in here.

As far as my shop goes, the high shelf thing definitely works. Had shitty used kitchen cabinets in here when I moved in.

I rent and these pictures are months apart.

My gf parks in the open spot but she's a nurse so I have all day to work on whatever I want before she comes home, sometimes she ends up parked in the street though. Most of the time I work on stuff in the driveway. Helps that all the vehicles run. Most of the really big projects I end up doing at my buddy's place where he has a lot more property and we don't have to rush.

A good chunk of the garage is taken up by the weightlifting area. Against the back wall there are some cabinets which is where I keep the welder/air compressor/tools/other stuff. There's an attic space in the garage where I store a lot of other stuff I rarely get into.

Having limited space and keeping it "modular" forces me to try and be clean/efficient/organized.

Still have a pile of junk in the floor on the other side but it's getting there. Permanent bench will go on the opposite wall and I have a line on materials for a rolling fab table. Need to make use of the stupid truss in the middle to hang less common use stuff. The shed across the yard there is key, no household items, yard tools etc... in the shop unless they're being repaired.

That has to feel like you moved into a warehouse compared to your last garage!

Getting the charger off the floor and onto the wall.

Then I'm ordering another subpanel to extend below this one. This has always been the catch-all shit spot of the whole place.

Next on the list is adding a remote up/down switch to the Raymond, I'd also really, really like to be able to also control the extend, but that doesn't already have a solenoid valve (hand only).

I don't know if it's been brought up yet but here's an idea. Lots of people get their kitchens remodeled every year and the majority of the time the existing cabinets get replaced. These cabinets can be aquired for nothing most of the time and with a a little time and some paint they make great cabinets for a garage/shop. Reach out to some local contractors and maybe you will end up with a bunch of free cabinets.

Yep, got some free tear outs from neighbors remodeling for my shop. Rollered them with Rustoleum black and gray, and new hardware. Built some shelves in between.

In a typical 2 car garage doubling as shop use, space is a premium so you may just want to use top cabinets. Either way they're awesome dirt cheap storage solutions.

Those came out real nice. I have 7 large upper cabinets and 1 extra large / extra tall upper cabinet and I have like $20 in them with primer and paint. Can't beat it for the dollar value.

Slowly getting it straightened back out, I've moved a lot of shit in here over the past year. Everything that can roll gets wheels. That cart by the door is like my junk drawer, bottom is full of small drops and misc material. Toolbox tops are both perpetual messes. Lots of shit ends up on the wall too

I got depression just seeing the pics!! :flipoff2: So gloomy in there

I just learned "outdoor" masking tape is a thing.
What's it like? Plasticky?
Yeah, 3M #2097 tape is plastic with a zero-residue adhesive (when used on on-porous surfaces). It's all I use for labeling unless I'm busting out the label printer (beyond rare occurrence).

One caveat: it will not let go of (so it will completely fuck up) any paper or cardboard you stick it to
Also, it'll tear apart Tyvek instead of releasing.

Homeless Despot used to carry it in the store, but they fucked that up for whatever reason so I bought a case online last time around:
Scotch 1.88 in. x 45 yds. Exterior Surfaces Painter's Tape (Case of 6) 2097-48CC-XS - The Home Depot

EDIT: and now it's out of stock even online :frown: - probably because it worked too well &/or wasn't vegan :mad3:

I did an add on shelf with some free scrap pile stuff a while back, and everything has handles now (those pics were old)

As you can see, everything is just as clean as it was 5 years ago

When we bought this house about a year ago I knew this garage was going to piss me off. The floor is fucked and needs cut out and replaced but so does the entire garage. Maybe next year but until then this place is as organized as it's going to get. Just shocked it fit all 3 toys. I just need to fix 2 outta 3 lol.
