French Tickler Buggy

You mentioned cast welds on knuckles have been tested but I thought you recently switched to busted knuckle steering arms on Reid knuckles so what welding was tested?

Just curious because I keep bouncing between the busted knuckle setup and JH weld on parts. I was going JH the whole time until the recent talks the past few month on here.

I try to be fairly extensive and explain what I'm doing in this thread. I even posted pictures. Did you read all of it ?

Your answer is here :

Well yes, but you mentioned putting them at the top also as an option.

You could also leave a little slack in the lines to allow you to unbolt it and flip it upside down while bleeding.

I'm also not convinced a few air bubbles in the top of the cooler would really matter?

As long as they are vertical, I could put the fittings at the top or bottom. Not sideways.
I don't want to do the unbolt / move the cooler dance. That's piss poor design.

Honestly, I was just asking peoples opinion on the 2 or 3 options I presented. Seems to me that there is no consensus.

I'll do some more thinking with the cooler in hands and in front of the rig.

Thanks all for yalls input :)

I get that, just throwing it out there. Could be a pain on the trail after a busted line repair or something.

I'd say put fittings up. I don't see air being an issue. The cooler side fluid is being pushed, not pulled, so air should work its self out.

I do wonder if a sealed fill cap on a cooler that size might not be a bad idea though?

can you install a Pressure-Relief Valves to vent excess pressure and air? kinda like Wisconsinite did in his build, in theory it could be just a 1/8 line ran someplace high that and and you could pull the ring and vent during bleeding. again just spit balling ideas...

I could.
Kinda same as my bleeder idea.
I like it.

My apologies, I went back and read through it again. For some reason I thought you started out on stock knuckles with jhfab weld on steering, broke one and then made the transition to Reid. Wasn't even aware people have issues breaking welds on the BJ eliminators thus why I questioned the "tested welds" comment. Sorry again.

No worries.

I didn't break the welds on the BJE either.

I just couldn't get the cast to weld properly on the Reid knuckles.

The side you took that hit on, was that with the knuckle that was welding up like crap or the knuckle that welded good?

Windrock ride this weekend.

Buggy did great, drove itself back on the trailer.

Rear end and front driveshafts are making some noises. Gonna have to check this out ASAP.

Went riding at Stony with Jake.
We covered some ground until I broke a 300M 14 bolt shaft on Stairway to Hell.
Before anyone freaks out, they were oooooold and already were in the axle when to bought it. I guess the ol’ 5.3 gave them a good workout over the recent years.
Slapped a stocker back in and I’m good for RBD.
Also swapped the sway bar to a different setup.

Couldn’t get the diameter I wanted with the previous setup.

Oh yeah, and the front driveshaft is definitely making a weird as noise.

Probably going to explode on me someday or I'll get to it before. Highly unlikely.

Haven’t seen this thread before. Great work and badass videos! I’ll be watching now.

Thanks for posting.

I knew this axle was junk when I built the buggy. It's a miracle it held 3 years of the pretty good beatdowns I gave it.

I'm putting together another axle for the next season. Another 14 bolt, 300M MW spool and shafts, big truss and ultra light brakes.
