What's new

French Tickler Buggy

He did not start in autocross. He was just into cars 110% and did everything he could with very little money. He just worked really hard at doing whatever he could to get seat time. Even hosting events at small circle tracks, or whatever.

He also had a ~75 Camaro that he raced 24 hours of lemons in.

I'm not saying your wrong. If you're the average guy who just wants to buy a car and get on the track, I'm sure it's very expensive. But just like anything, effort can prevail over throwing money if that's really what you want to commit to.

Not like wheelin where you can just pick up whatever rig and head out to almost any trail or park for next to nothing with little effort.
Yeah, I was just saying a lot of people start in autoX and it doesn't cost much to do it so it's a good way to get into the sport or get a 'racing/speed' fix without breaking the bank.

Private track fees here are ridiculous....$40K a year for the most basic membership. Not many people can swing that...but that track is busy...so obviously some can. It's a very different world from wheeling....one I don't particularly care for. Just not my thing. Different strokes for different folks.

I can see those a lot of guys being pretty stuck up and not all that much of a community like wheelin has.

Sucks because ripping a fast car around a track sounds like a ton of fun.

I wish there was more gocart tracks out there. Fast gocarts are ridiculously fun.

The wine and cheese racer crowd supports places like that. Eagle Canyon Raceway here in Texas is one of those places that have a bad ass track but it's total unobtainium to the average Joe. They built a bad ass SxS short course on the property that I'd love to practice on but they want a $2500 membership fee per year and $250 a month club fee just for me to drive 3hrs each way to do so.

The automotive side of their fees for the road course is even more ridiculous especially if you want to get into renting a garage on site.

Y'all done with your shity ideas ?

American V8 or fuck off.

Is that first question an oxymoron or did you forgot where you are? :flipoff2:

The ZL-1 Camaro is a pretty nasty car that's relatively affordable and makes cool supercharger noises. I wouldn't overlook those either. :smokin:

Out of budget as well.
I'm balling on a budget

A late modelish V8 pickup sure looks fun lately. Those 5.0 F150s with a whipple are getting popular also.

There are a couple new F150s running around Dallas with superchargers and turbos that are pretty sick. I'd probably be less likely to get arrested and have my license suspended in a pickup than I would in a Vette or Camaro.

I don't belong in anything fast on the street. I had a "quick" first get Cummins that would boil the tires off in 3rd. I sold it after I did like 3 burnouts within ear shot of a sheriff and was fortunate enough to get let off because he also had a Cummins, and thought it was badass :homer::laughing:

That is me.

The last car I ever owned was a 72 Camaro with 700hp that I sold to keep myself from going to jail. It's been diesel trucks and Jeeps with big tires ever since.

I do miss the shit out of that car though.....

Perfect time to reintroduce you to the idea of a Raptor. It'll take you to #Brap Blvd in style and comfort :lmao:
I am thinking about it. There is a nice blue one for sale on the board.
std cab silverado, drop kit, turbo kit and enjoy life
I don't fit in a std cab. And I've got enough trucks that I could just turbo an existing one.
I don't want to start another project.

Too big of a budget. But yeah I saw these.

Base trucks are under $15k easily, you looking at c4 vettes? :flipoff2:

This thread sucks unless Bebop pulls into a fancy restaurant in new fancy car with a perrier racing suit on looking like Jean Girard.
I told you it'll happen eventually. I'm still committed. I just put other things higher on my priority list.

Bossman has a Mark5 Supra, Just put a tune and exhaust on it and it's a blast to drive.
