What's new

Ford Bronco Release date set

Anyone seen or heard fuel mileage estimates yet?

Guesses I've seen are in the low to mid 20's. Figure similar to an F-150 or Ranger with the same engine, plus/minus a couple MPG.

Possibly 23 hiway with tiny tires and 4 whiZZER...rangers are pigs....hard to get over 20.... though my neighbor says 22 at 70 with cruise on with all the camping gear in it.

The fat bastard Sasquatchinators probably 14 or 15 combined If your lucky.

Lots of tire and dirty air under it.

I actually miss that from the edge and explorer over the 150...cause I hate keys. I fawkin lose the fawk out of them.

Yeah, i don't see how anyone would prefer a standard key over push button start.

My F150 has keyless entry and push button start. I never have to take my keys out of my pocket anymore.... It's is one my the best features I didn't know I wanted.

Push button annoys the shit out of me.

First thing I do when I get in the truck is pull out my phone and wallet. Dont need keys stabbing me in the thigh. I also hate touch screen radios and want a damn button.

I'm an old soul millennial.

Well then gtfo, this vehicle and any vehicle made in the last 10 years isn't for you.

I was at the grocery store the other week and I pulled up next to a guy that was in a bit of a panic. Asked me of any taxi services in the area. He said he borrowed his brother's SUV and left the key fob with this brother. Got to the grocery store and shut the truck off. Totally forgot that he had to leave it running. I offered to ride (I was on the motorcycle) to get the fob, but he said he'd figure it out.

I have no idea how any of that stuff works.

Interesting. I didn't think my truck would drive without the fob inside. I know it displays a message when the key isn't there, but i've never tried driving off. I guess i will need to do a test.

Nah, I'll salvage the parts off them in 10 years. Interested in seeing how the 2.3 and 7spd perform.

Anyone have specs on the axle ratio? 4.56-4.88 with the sasquatch package?

Yea, a scenario I never thought about. Something you'd probably want to try.

My RAM will drive without the key fob until you shut it off. The dash lights up and gives a rapid loud beeping, so you know it's not in the truck.

I'm guessing that it doesn't shut off as a safety feature since A) you would lose power steering and brakes otherwise (despite still being able to use them, people panic) and B) this at least allows you the chance to circle back and get the keys whereas if it shuts off on its own, you are screwed.

It is 4.70 which is kind of an odd ratio.

Our Fords shut off if you put them in drive with no fob. The dodges will fawk you bad.

But I rarely drive any of the new cars. They are for my wife.

My car is either the ranger or b2. Niether have a working radio or require keys....and the ranger is a pullstart....literally. I leave the key in the ignition so I can lock the steering when parked on steep shit....but that's all it does....and tumbler is removable if I do lose the key.

They are both the biggest pieces of shit you will ever see for driven vehicles for most people.

But I might just scrap them both for a bronco ranger.

Which I will equip any way I want.

Between HP tuners and forscan...putting a manual in one of these with a 2.7 and having factory trail control and cutting brakes is all doable....save for the trans....you won't even have to get dirty.

So losing interest over it .... Not me.

My guess is around 4500pds , depending what do dads you have on it.

As much as your mom...

But really, I'd expect ~4500lbs

I'm thinking a bit more than that.

A 4dr Jeep weighs 4500lbs, from what I've read so far the Bronco 4dr is bigger in most dimensions except for roof height.

Nothing a well placed sawzall can't fix:smokin:

What's with the cutting brakes? I keep seeing that mentioned but don't think it's what people think. My BMW had cutting brake traction control and it was annoying. Or is it a lever like the old comp buggies had?

The fuck did you just say?
:lmao:

Not a lever, an electronic gimmick. From what I read, the "turn assist braking" (or whatever) drags the inside rear brake to help push you through a turn. No idea at what speeds or under what conditions. They already fire the brakes individually for stability control, someone found another way to make up for drivers without talent.

This.

Unless you are picking up a rental late at night and cant figure out what combination of things is needed to get the damn thing started. I have spent a few long minutes in rental lots figuring out how the start works, where the fukkin headlight switch is.... :mad3: Can we not have a LITTLE standardization?

Once you get used to the keyless system, it is much preferred. MUCH!

That's final drive ratio so may include overdrive.

No, that is the axle gear ratio.

Pretty sure it said the t-case gears were 4.7s and not the diffs.

Pretty sure you're wrong because the two transfer case ratios offered are 2.72 in the part-time system, and 3.06 in the 4 auto system, and because Ford fucking published all the gear ratios :shaking:

Here's the specs for those of you too dumb to pull them up on Ford's website for yourselves: https://www.ford.com/cmslibs/content...ch_Specs_1.pdf

Nope.

Pretty sure it said the t-case gears were 4.7s and not the diffs. Edit, I was wrong. It is the diffs.
Yep.

No, actual cutting brakes, like it will lock up the inside tire on a hard turn to pivot kind of cutting brakes. I am not sure how they operate exactly, but Ford said that they operate in 4 low only with the automatic transmission and you enable the cutting brakes with a dash-mounted button. I imagine the computer uses and ABS-like module to lock up the inside tire when it sees the steering is at full lock.

I saw a video saying it also requires the electromechanical transfer case. It will torque bias more power to the front axle as well as drag the inside rear wheel.
