We have talked about a whole home gen for years. Told the wife we are installing one next month. My only issue is only have 100 gal propane tank currently

My Honda 2200 runs everything we need and it will run for 24hrs on a 20lb bbq tank. I have enough various tanks to last a month. We have city water so I don’t have to worry about a well, no AC or hot water for the wife but those are wants!

Big used tanks are cheap and it sounds like you have the room. My neighbor has a 26kw standby and they only have 2-100gal tanks, someone lied to them!

I was looking at a 22kw Generac. My well is on a seperate meter so I plan to run it off my 7.5kw Generac that I have now
 
Well after sitting on screen porch for 8 days with no power after hurricane I finally was able to have surgery on my arm last night. Plate and screws installed.

Power company is estimating 1-2 more weeks before electricity is restored.

Damn! Where in SC are you that's still without power. My place in the upstate finally got it back yesterday.
 
I can have a 10KW diesel gen set at your house by 4 PM tomorrow if you have a way to unload it.

It WILL run your whole house if you are smart about it and maybe if you aren't.

I will bring spare diesel jugs as well, but enough fuel to get you thru the day and part of Sunday.

I can wire it up for you as well but will need connection info if you are 3 phase into the house.

i have a 20KW Generac and 1000 gal tank and have used it more this year than the last 5 combined. recently put in a new battery and changed oil and filter. I run it at least every 2 weeks for a few minutes to make sure there are no issues...jumping off the genset in a pouring rain sux...

OK... couple more things. Gen has to be with 25-ish feet of the house/power panel... I don't have long feeders for power. If you do that is a different story. A n accessible sub-panel with a 50A feed works too.

If I have more details I can probably figure out a way to unload without assistance...

Brother I can’t begin to express my thanks for offer but we are getting by. I have a 2300w that is hooked to my chair so I can get in and out of it and my dad is here now wiring my 6500w into my house panel. He put a disconnect in at my well panel and a pig tail so my wife can haul Gen down to well and charge up the 120 gal expansion tank under the house. That allows several days worth of flushing toilets.

Sorry for late response. These pain meds make for good sleep… can’t thank y’all enough for the offers for help. We sure as hell have it better than a lot of folks.
 
I also have to give thanks for my amazing wife through all this. She has done everything from learned to drive the tractor on her own and is moving debris with loader, waiting on me hand and foot, figured out the back pack blower on her own, helped the neighbor change the battery in one of our spare vehicles, and much more. Woman is amazing…

We have talked about installing one for years. There was just always other priorities. Well it has been moved to top of the list. I’ve read that you are required to have a licensed contractor install propane tank which is horseshit to me. I can dig a damn hole and run pipe. Just don’t ask me to use a ladder… I plan to call our propane provider and discuss with them. Maybe they’ll just come inspect before I cover up or something
 
I do have one dumbass noob question… has something changed with the control panel? I can’t post pics, gifs, etc. everything is showing grey/inactive. Only thing I can click on is attach files.

I was more impressed watching the anesthesiologist use ultrasound to find the nerve to do a block (that didn’t work by the way). He started sending pulses till my arm twitched. That’s the last I remember before getting juice and crackers in recovery :lmao:

The nerve block was trippy when I got my surgery.

The 'Thesio that got me was an asshole. Kept putting the mask into my eyes. Also, I remember waking up in the little makeshift room and the older nurse kept trying to help me put on and zip up my pants. Then offered to help me use the restroom. :laughing:
