Fastenall can go fuck off

Well, that was disappointing.

Not sure if trolling or?
Holt CAT is only in central Texas, we have two other dealers with similar parts systems.

Nope, didn't know it was local. Never heard of it. Cat here is a dealership you go to, with a parts department.
Amazon-type delivery boxes for hardware would be cool.

We have those too, I didn't explain very good I guess.

These are the regular CAT dealer locations, in addition to the "drop boxes".

During the pandemic in Colorado, they wouldn't let anyone in. My last few visits, I saw their prices were insane and every bag of fasteners I picked up said MADE IN CHINA.
Fastenal has been this way for ever, where’ve you been? It you don’t have a commercial account with them, they stick it to you. When I was using the company I worked for account and then my buddies business account, all their shit was from China. I never bought much from them other than SS hardware I used on my buggy. 1/4” Allen head stuff was about it. I used that to hold body panels and interior aluminum floor, dash and trans tunnel panels too.

I’m not sure how fastensome is still in business. Between account only and you can’t even come in to ask a question, to not having shit in stock, there’s no reason to do business with them.
They’ve closed several locations around me and one this year too

That wasn't the case when I was buying from them in my teens. Some USA made stuff, some overseas.

Even back then, if they had to order it and add their freight cost for one bag of bolts, I passed. Cost otherwise was just fine.

Was a walk-in customer all the way up until covid when they started blocking people from entering. Haven't been since.

Wth dude, they would literally sell you exactly what you need but you won't go to them?

But you'll get pissy over a place that won't sell to you.
Probably same cost as Deere.

Wasn't the bolts being the issue but the shit service from Fastenall and how they give zero shits about customers.

Just looked up some plow bolts from cat $2.50 each for a larger 5/8-11 bolt. Cat is cheaper than Deere in my area.

It must be tough being Nate of the north :lmao::flipoff2:. When I need plow bolts today the cat dealer is the guy to get them from. When I don’t need them today the aftermarket guy I get cutting edges from is the guy.

And before its asked, they are 1/2x13, but a bigger nut that is almost 1" vs a std 3/4"
It’s called a heavy hex nut. 1/2-13 are 7/8 across the flats.

Fastenal is a direct competitor of ours. I hate them. Fuck them. BUT they have the right to choose their target customers.

Given the choice between a 3 year municipal plow contract, and a 25'x60' driveway that needs to be done once because John is up on the slope, which customer do you prioritize?

it was really funny how shocked the counter guy was that I was there last time I darkened their doorstep

"HOW are you in here?"
'I figured out I can walk around with these little stubs down here, it's really helpful'
"NO, the door is locked, how did you get in here you're supposed to be in the loading dock"
'door's open bro, you gonna sell me these m5 sockets or am I heading over to b&f?'
"I'll push through this sale just this once, what account are you on?"

he didn't comment on the little laugh before telling him that I'm an absolutely worthless cash customer piece of scum

I had several Fastenal locations set up as distributors of my company's products, and ended up closing them all due to a lack of purchases. Well they obviously didn't update their vendor list, so when one location wanted to order one $40 valve and I told them no, they had a shit-fit. Look, are you a stocking distributor or not?

Never buy anything from them.

I have personally flows a 3ph breaker in a back pack on a commercial airline to Alaska
1. to guarantee that it was the right part
2. They were in Alaska, and there wasn't parts to replace it with
3. The value of me personally walking that shit up there was worth more than the risk of the machinery failing that the gizmo was for
4. You fuckers are in Alaska, and you actually get paid for being from Alaska, pay up
5. Explain to a TSA agent what a breaker is and why it is in your backpack :grinpimp:

I had a similar thing happen, attitude determination and control box shit itself during integration on the pad, so I picked up a replacement from the retards in Colorado to fly it to Finland. TSA was fine, the flight attendant on Icelandair who didn't speak much English was harder to convince that the box with ESD and scary symbols was safe :lmao:

You run this equipment for personal jobs or business jobs?

Both.

I treat all customers the same. Have some that spend a couple million a year and others that might spend $100.

Plus never know when a $100 sale could turn into a 7 figure sale.
Have had new customers order $250k of stuff after being pleased with how their small purchase was handled.

Yes. Figured explaining that on here would be more headache.

Did sort of learn about a few more fastener ratings learn a ratings. Ones I got are "2H"

A 2H nut is a high pressure and temperature grade nut made from medium carbon steel that has been quenched and tempered. These nuts are used in heavy construction, such as in bridges and buildings, as well as in flanges and fittings. They are also commonly used in high pressure and high temperature situations, such as bolting

2H. This is a high pressure and temperature grade nut made of medium carbon steel that has...
2H nuts meet ASTM specification A 194, which covers carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel nuts for bolts in high pressure or high temperature service. Grade markings on 2H nuts include both the grade symbol "2H" and the manufacturer's identification mark.

Stop giving the AK lad shit about the almost an 1” nut. He isn’t incorrect and is probably going to use an adjustable hammer to tighten said nut.

The Double Ds bolt-on store sounds like a good replacement for Fastenone.

I know but get used to using your cat dealer. You can order on your phone , pick them up in a few minutes or they can mail them to you. Might be the same as Deere but here the CAT dealer has way better service and stuff on hand.

At one time we tried to set up a national account and if I remember right, they wanted us to fill out credit application at each branch we wanted to use.
(my memory may be messed up though).

Is that still the deal?

Both.

Awww, how precious you believe that.

I had a Fastenal near me and used them all the time. After COVID, they stopped taking cash and I set up an account. They would bill me at the end of the month. I got sick of sending checks, so I sent a couple hundred extra and just ran a credit. When the credit got down to about $70, they closed this branch. They told me the money is still in the system and I can use it in any branch. The nearest one is 50 miles away and I have never got anything more from them. It’s been a couple years now. Do you think I still got my $70?

I don't believe, that's what I do.

So you own company (or companies) with multiple customers that are spending "a couple million a year" with you? I'm I reading this right?

winzer here
guy brings brownies just about once a month that are pretty great

We had Winzer for quite awhile, they were good.

Sales rep from Kimball Midwest stopped by and had a good sales presentation. Gave the Winzer guy an opportunity to meet/beat and he just disappeared.

We have another supply house close by when we need something RIGHT NOW, but Kimball is overnight on most stuff.
