What's new

Fastenall can go fuck off

I’m pretty lucky here. There’s a place called double d bolt that’s just down the road. They carry pretty much everything you need. And at 1/4 the price of ace or Lowe’s. Home despot can suck it. They replaced all the grade 8 and other shit with plastic Santa’s and stupid shit like that. Makes me want to choke whoever approved that stupid shit.

Napa has a shit ton of hardware. Store location obviously plays a role in what they have. The city ones around me are mostly passenger car stuff. The county one in the next door podunk town will have all sorts of odd-ball shit on hand for farmers and the industrial stuff around them.

when I was up there NAPA was the first place I looked for
they always surprised me how much stock they could stuff in a tiny building

Randomn plow bolt;
I guess they do have some in stock, and more at the midtown warehouse.

I checked. $53 shipping.

Even called them, said the only ship FedEx or UPS.

Plus I need 14 and only sell in 10s, so between the shipping and that it's near dealer price... though that's "backorder" till who knows.
CAT?

With all the time wasted whining cat would be cheaper.:lmao::flipoff2:
Most of the whining time wasted isn’t Nate, though. That’s not how a Nate thread works.

Nate spends fifty three seconds typing an initial post, usually leaving out key details.

People respond.

Nate shows back up, picks two random posts to argue with, replies with vague and/or incomprehensible statements.

More people respond with advice, similar experiences, condolences, questions, and begin whining.

People begin arguing.

Nate is off doing Nate things. Starts new thread the following day needing to know where to get bolts to reattach the bumper to his unimog after hitting a house delivering firewood.

Then somewhere he gets the idea that he needs to start a bolt store to take fastenal down. It can be called Fasten-Nate

What really sucks is fasten all has a lot of the bolts for Isuzu npr/Nqr/nrr trucks that I couldn’t get elsewhere that I’ve needed across the years. For example caliper bracket bolts. Isuzu was sending them from Japan at 2 weeks out. Never in stock at fastenall though always 3-5 days to ship from the warehouse 20 minutes from my house.

I was thinking that too. I assumed he didn't want to pay their price.
That too. From US Deere they are about $16 each nut and bolt, so ~$225.

I got them for $40 shipped.

And before its asked, they are 1/2x13, but a bigger nut that is almost 1" vs a std 3/4"

winzer here
guy brings brownies just about once a month that are pretty great
I try and keep stickers, pens, hats, etc for non PITA customers (haha) at work but it's like pulling teeth.
I ended up buying my own business cards off VistaPrint for like $30. Been over TWO YEARS and "we're working on it"
Last story was they couldn't find a Jpg of the company logo.

I found it on the server in maybe 3 mins.

COVID until about a year ago Fastenal sucked even though our plant does $150k/year with the local store. This year they have finally gotten cost competitive, I randomly needed a shit load of M24 bolts last week and Fastenal was 1/3 the cost of McMaster, now they aren't good enough to get them to me in 1 day but I didn't need them for a week so it was worth it.

No idea on if they are worth a shit personally as most of my hardware comes from the farm store.

My local store does not open to the public either, which is a huge pain in the rear when I need $5 worth of fasteners. But when I order in bulk, they are quick and a fraction of what McMaster charges.

I guess that's the only business they want.

I didn't think of them. Got them ordered from a place in England. Needed some pins and Bushes do it worked out.
I can't say how it works up there but here we deliver overnight to a network of "drop boxes" so you can have "very close" delivery at no cost.

No store, literall storage building with a CAT padlock aka drop box... When you select the drop box as your location the drivers deliver the parts (size/weight restrictions apply) over night for you to pick up at your leisure.

They still use dogs towing sleds for transportation. I dont think they are that advanced up there
