What's new

Fastenall can go fuck off

Yup, got hit with that last time I was there...just gave them the name of my work and they did a cash deal on their account where I still paid.
What pissed me off is they have them in stock. I go to pay and "what account?"
Oh just a "cash" sale.

We only sell to commercial.

Huh? I bought stuff here a couple months ago.

No, that's not possible. It's been in effect since 01 March.

Ok.. whatever, put it on the business then.

They give me a form to fill out. They "ok, we'll call you if it's approved"

Uhhh, no fucker. I'm here now, bolts are right there not! Not making another trip!

Yup, which is a load of shit....all these commercial supply houses doing it pisses me off, especially HVAC related. I get that I'm going to get fleeced at MSRP as a walk in, but ffs if I have the part in hand and cash in the other, fucking take my money.

there is another place here in my town that does this, I made an account, and it was still you felt like you had to beg to give them money for a crap price
everything has an item number instead of a price.
so you walk around and irritate them by asking how much everything is, and it clearly irritate the store clerks

Granger did the same thing

The end result was the same for both of them, I went somewhere else with my money

Nate, I know you are in AK, but Mcmaster is the bomb down here

Yea fawk fastenal.

Mcmaster will have that shit on a dogsled and to your door tomorrow if you order by 6pm.
I checked. $53 shipping.

Even called them, said the only ship FedEx or UPS.

Plus I need 14 and only sell in 10s, so between the shipping and that it's near dealer price... though that's "backorder" till who knows.

Fastenal went to shit, way before covid. They have been trying to go account only for a while. During covid they stopped accepting cash.

That said our local one has been crap for years. I'll spend 15 mins driving to the other side of town just to avoid those fuckers.:flipoff:

dude, to be fair, your money is purple and the coins are named after a Cartoon network
no one takes your money seriously :grinpimp:

Rumor is Fastenall quit Bluelane freight up here. Too bad.

This is fucking annoying. They lose sales because I'm not gonna play footsie with their employees. :shaking: I'm sure they care.
They also make me jump through "commercial account" hoops. :flipoff:

No McMaster up here.

Kimball Midwest?
they have quality stuff, I don't know about Nates shipping situation, but Nate has to be aware where Alaska is located on a map at this point.
Aware and happy are two different things. $13 Fedex 2-day ("Sorry, we can't ship USPS to other countries.") on 1.6oz of $2 bolts will piss you off every time.

This.

All but one around here closed in the last few years. No one uses them anymore because of their bullshit. Worked out for us because we ended up finding a local place thats 10x better.

What about Grainger??? Haven't needed any serious hardware since I retired. Back in New Jersey, six years ago (yeah it sucked); fucking Fastenall was the bomb for hardware. :smokin::smokin::smokin::smokin:

Set up an account. Pay with credit card per transaction. That's what I do. :homer:

May work for some. I just wont go in there. They stocked less and less at the local store to the point that every little thing had to be shipped in. Staff gives a big huff if you actually need any help, that is if the associate isnt a new hire that knows nuthin. They closed the storefront here and moved to an uninviting warehouse. It is pretty clear to me that however Fastenal makes its money, they certainly dont want my business.

The local tractor stores (Tractor supply, Bomgaars, Jax) stock near anything I need for fasteners and the rest are easily ordered online. Even ACE hardware is more useful than Fastenal.

I can kinda understand only wanting to do things on account. Most walk in guys arent wanting to buy a box of bolts when they really only need 3. Or in this case 14.

I have personally flows a 3ph breaker in a back pack on a commercial airline to Alaska
1. to guarantee that it was the right part
2. They were in Alaska, and there wasn't parts to replace it with
3. The value of me personally walking that shit up there was worth more than the risk of the machinery failing that the gizmo was for
4. You fuckers are in Alaska, and you actually get paid for being from Alaska, pay up
5. Explain to a TSA agent what a breaker is and why it is in your backpack :grinpimp:
