I'm not in Alaska, I'm in the North Dakota oil field, God if I lived in Alaska I'd never want to leave.

I worked ND oilfields for three years and currently work in eastern WA where there are few guys working the Slope. One I know works for ASRC and said just give him the word and I could start next week. Are you interested in moving up there and working the slope?

I'm definitely not opposed to it

Can live in lesser 48 too, though often easier to get hired if you're "local"

What area do you live in that's hiring log truck drivers?

Southern Oregon. I'd look a bit farther north in this state though. Roseburg/Eugene an on over towards the coast. Seemed to be a bit better money last time I heard anything, and a hell of alot cheaper to live compared to this county.

Looks like Weyerhaeuser is startin folks out at $30/hr
Lone rock has an opening on their road crew. Thats just a badass job, no mention of pay though

$30/hr for 98hrs a week is $2,940- give the tax man his 30% and you are taking home $2,0xx a week. Decent $, but lots of hours to earn it.

agreed:laughing:. That's not top dollar an a guy can do better if you have the experience. I have no doubts that if he did a search on the timber an logging outfits and picked up the phone. He would find something a bit better. That said, nobody with little to no experience in the woods is going to start out making that top dollar

Now if he could bullshit his way around a lowboy on occasion, and let it slip that he knows what end of the ratchet is the hammer..........:grinpimp:

I didn't say I liked it i just do it cause there's nothing better to do out here, are your numbers are off on pay, you're missing overtime.

You are correct they are off, I just did straight time. I have no idea on the tiers for OT when it is more than 2x what 'straight' time is. Then again I am salary, so any time over my 40-45/week is for free....

No I get it, there was a time when I would work a bunch extra- but never to that level. 60-70/week was normal depending on the type of work/season, when I was younger.

Whenever I click these indeed links you guys share it just takes me to jobs local to me not what your trying to show me, I appreciate you guys trying though

I don't get double time or anything, just straight overtime after 40, and preferably I'd have a job where I could work 5 12's and have the weekends off to actually have a life.

yea thats weird. looked up oregon log truck driver and transfer driver and started scrolling. Plenty of jobs out there. Just do a hard look at housing before you fuck yourself.

Normally 1.5x after 40hrs. Have yet to work anywhere that did double time.

I'd look hard at this company in Prineville OR. Sounds like they're willing to teach qualified candidates to be heavy haul drivers and eastern OR is very nice, it will be even nicer when it joins ID. Might not make quite what you want at first.

It's usually 2x2 or 3x3 here. Some places It's 4x2 or even 6x2 or 6x1.

One week off sounds decent, but with travel and just getting shit squared away like getting the mail, paying bills, plowing the yard, etc it'll kill a few days of that.

First off.........
If you're not salary and are willing to take straight time after 40, you're an idiot. There's actually like, Laws about that.
Secondly,
5 12's???
The goal has always been to land a 4 10, or the Unicorn 3 12's (paid for 40)

:shaking:

Yeah and not in a good way. First time I was in Prineville was in the early 90s. Last time was a couple of years ago, Bend is worse.

We did a bit of road work out there 2010ish and whatever. Went back a few years ago to cut powerline roads for that big facebook dealio that was going in. Holy shit I never woulda guessed that

Fuck bend

I took it as he's getting straight OT. No fancy double time, or $30 and a handjob stuff
