What's new

Driving job advice/leads possibly??

The update is I'm probably losing my license next month, really want to get into something that has me in the forest or back on the water for a living, finding a job in the logging industry is tough when you have no connections so someone hook a honky up

I might be way off but don't think it's tough. Get your ass to a logging town and head to the gas station at 4-5am or the bar in the evening. I'll bet your working inside a week.

Have you even made a phone call or sent an email asking about jobs out here yet?

We used to have new guys from out of state that lived in their camper @ the yard until they found a place. All they ever did was call about a listing on craigslist

Why are you losing your license? DWI or?!?

Ok op I'm going to just say it. You do to much talking and not enough doing about getting a job. Get your ass to whatever part of the country you want to log and start finding people to bug. You will be working in a week.

Unless you are one of those guys that's actually a super shitty employee who gets ran off from everywhere inside the first month and witches about there being no good jobs.

What I think I know about him.
1) thought his lawyer took care of a old dwi in another state but didn’t.
2) lossing his license and may have already lost his CDL
3) sends all his money to take care of his mom in a nursing home.

I just googled logging jobs on the west coast. Took about 5 mins to find a handful of woods work for logging/road building/crushing/mechanic/driving. Both big crews and small. Washington and Oregon. And thats just the first stuff that popped up on indeed and craigslist

I got a gig job hauling gravel one year from a customer. Was chit chatting and mentioned the cold and how my truck's air lines had froze up.

"You have a CDL?"

Next thing I know I'm making over $500 a day in a side dump.

I got one because I swung by to ask about a dump trailer:laughing:

I just can't understand people that can't find work for months on end, it makes no sense. Except they clearly don't WANT to work, thats the only way to see it.
I know some guys that put in like 2500hrs of work over summer and take winter off. Or vice versa.

One guy pretty much just watches TV and gets fat. No idea how he can go from working 12-16hrs everyday to full on might shit himself on the sofa cause it's too much work to go to the bathroom. 🤣

Same here but with fire. Go kill it during the summer. And then go fuck around, maybe flip a few cars in the off season. Dunno if they are getting rich, but they seem happy

I've been steadily employed for quite a while, I don't remember the last time I went more than a week or so without a full time job actually.

Pardon me for thinking it was better to try and make connections with people before totally uprooting my life and spending a pile of money searching for a new career.

Yeah the old lawyer died almost a decade ago, their almost certainly going to convict me.l, probably end of next month.

I send less these days for mom fortunately, sadly things got cheaper when we put her in assisted living because she kept crying she couldn't take care of herself without a round the clock nurse for important issues like picking up her remote or making her tea 🤨
