Dogs of Irate 4x4

For the last couple of months I have been bringing my 10 year old 'pup' to work.

He is so much happier spending the day here.

I throw his ball across the warehouse at least a dozen times per day.

I know my days with him are getting shorter and shorter and I am just really happy spending more time with him.

I also let him walk with me to get the units and he rides in them on the way back, he loves it!

This picture should also be in the “First wheeling rig” thread as it is from early 2000s. Millie and Mitzi, my first dogs as well.

These two. Their thought process has to go one of three ways.

1. We love this dude.
2. He's the clumsiest while eating.
3. He's the biggest pushover and will sneak us food when others aren't looking.

I like to think it's the first one, but I'm sure it's a mix a 2 and 3. :homer:

Hey, it's the Branch Manager and Assistant!

:lmao:

My Shepard mixed with something real big is still growing. His training is coming along very well, he doesn't need a leash much anymore.

Found an old pic. I was 6, he was 8 months old. He got to be 110 lbs when grown. Not the best pic.

He was an outside dog all his life 24x7 (-40 F in the winters). Would run 70 K in a day behind snowmobiles, and fucking swim across a lake unless told to stand down. Ran guard patrol when we were deep wood camping. Smart AF. In fact, my bro and I still laugh when I say the dog was smarter than him.

Had to put him down when I was 18.

Broke my fucking heart badly. 30+ years and I still drop a tear when I remember him and the whiskey is on.

Ranger was a stray I picked up at the county shelter. They said he was five months old, but I think they were off by a month because he grew like a weed, got huge and still growing at what should be a year. I know they should keep growing for over a year, but he is big. I'm 6'2" and when he stands up on his back legs he is quite a bit taller than me. He's about 100 pounds, lean, strong and real fast. He looks more like he's Shepard mixed with part wolf than anything else, but he is a cream color like a Anaytolin Shepard without the mass.

If he's anything like mine was, you have adopted the best friend you'll ever have.

Ranger has a uphill battle because my last dog was the best dog I have ever had. She was the best dog all of my friends had ever seen. She was awesome. Sasha would set a 100' perimeter around wherever we were camping that she would sweep and chase anything out that intruded. I knew I never even had to look around with that fearless, loyal dog on duty. She followed me everywhere I went for 10 years. She also had the ability to photobomb nearly every picture I took while working on the Explorer.

Ranger is getting better every day. He heels without a leash on our daily walks, sits at every intersection, comes when I call him at the dog park, etc. He is going to be a great dog.

Here is my shotgun rider. My teenage daughters absolutely spoil him with love. He seems to always give into them. Here he is getting ready for work I guess?

and here is my kids dog. They paid for her, and pay for all associated costs, food, toys, vet, etc.

Tonight is my boy's last night. He's been with me through different trucks, bikes, jobs, and girls. I think he had a stroke last week. Now he just wanders around and gets stuck in corners. It breaks my heart but he's clearly not getting better or living his best life.

:frown: Sorry man, same thing happened to mine last year.

Girlfriend got me a few drinks in to agree to another dog. Christmas puppy that didn't work out or some shit, I dunno. I heard pit mix and figured it was going to be a reasonably sized dog. Turns out the other half is corgy :shaking:

About 10 months old now. The old man on the left is Brinks and the other is Fry. Shorty up front is the puppers (who was named Spice, ugh)

Mine had that happen as well. Sad days

This is my Houligan. aka, Catahoula Leopard. She's a blue merril, so she's small for a catahoula. She used to be fearless, until she popped her stiffle joint (aka knee) and had to have TPLO surgery. She also has bad hips, and a rippled artery that makes noise in the ticker (sounds like a heart valve murmur, but it isn't.. No more jumping, no more rough housing (don't want to pay another $6k for TPLO surgery) Got her at 12 weeks of age, and we will truly miss her when she moves on..

She tore things up until she was almost 4, then she finally started to settle down. A royal PITA to do any training with.
