Daughters senior rescue dog Bruno is now a clothing model.

Well, not really. Daughter works for Mary's in the accounting department and takes her dog to work a few days a week and they decided to use him to model a jacket.

Dog number five was delivered yesterday from UT. He was found last month dumped at an OHV park. He needs help with adjusting to cats so we decided to take him. 10-12yrs old.

Very good boy!!!!!! Our cats are stalking him so I think he's scared lol.

My wife looked at a puppy today (some Italian poodle thing)… I’m trying to talk her into a pound rescue…

Shelter dogs are grateful. When I'm in the market for a new dog, I'll walk around the shelters and make eye contact with the dogs. Any aggressive behavior, I move on. I got my last dog, Sasha because she sat down at the door with a pleading look. She wanted the fuck out of there. She was the most loyal, and the best camping dog I've ever known. We would go camping, whether with the RV or tenting out in the middle of nowhere. She would immediately go out and mark a 100' perimeter. Every hour or so, she would go out and patrol the circle. If any critters came into her circle, she chased them off and came right back. She was ever vigilant, so much so that I could kick back in my chair by the fire, drink whiskey and not pay attention to my surroundings, while she would lie down just out of the firelight with her head on a swivel. If there were other dogs with us, she acted like a drill instructor, got them all whipped into shape. Hard core alpha female, about 75 pounds of don't screw with me. I miss her. She got the cancer and I had to put her down a few years ago. Had her for nine years. I have another dog. He's cool, very handsome and a big boy, but goofy.

The new guy, 110 pounds of goofball. He always comes when I call him, and he always stops doing whatever he's doing when I tell him, so he's a good boy. He likes people, much more than me.

Agreed on the rescue dogs. Our Charlie was a rescue. He was a momma's boy when we first got him but he has become more my sidekick the last couple of years. I think a big part of that is when I go out to the garage or in the yard I will take him with me and he gets bored in the house. Pic from last year when we were dog sitting for a buddy. Charlie is on the right, the dark brindle.

This was a difficult one yesterday. Merced, My Meremma is the toughest dog I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen him wrestle bears, have three bears treed at one time. But he’s getting old.
We have two new LGDs to take over when he’s got to retire to pet duty.
I’m sitting in my office yesterday morning and here a commotion. I run outside and see Ranger, our 1+ year old 125 lb Anatolian/Great Pyrenees and 105lb Merced fighting to the death. Ranger is so damn massive he had Merced on his back the whole time, but Merced was not giving up. To make things worse, our old 105 lb Akbash was trying to get in the action, and out 55 lb Anatolian puppy was circling them all trying to figure out how to get involved.
They probably fought for a good 15 minutes until they were worn out enough I could keep them separated.
Poor Merced may not be top dog anymore. Luckily, I probably got the worse injury out of everyone…
I honestly don’t know what happened. Just the day before I was mention to my wife how surprised I am that they get along so well.

That sucks. We had two Shepard mix sisters that used to go at it like that. They would rip each other up, then be best friends for a while.

My Anatolian Pyrenees cross is a big wimp. Same name, looks like your dog. He let's other dogs push him around. If he's being picked on by an asshole dog, the worst he will do is body slam them. He has a very strong prey drive.

My potato hurt his knee last week, vet said his right knee was twice the size of his left and put him on some anti-inflammatories. They don’t seem to have been helping that much he doesn’t wimped or anything but he definitely has a limp and is favoring it.
Anyone gone through any knee related injuries with their dogs have any thoughts on helping him get back onto his paws?

Token picture of the monster.

Ended up taking him back to the vet today because he doesn’t seem to have gotten any better. They now think he tore his acl and have a recommendation for a specialist, the vet said to expect it to cost 3-5k all said and done. Anyone had an acl done on their dog before? I had one years ago and it was 6 months to a year of recovery.

Wife was walking the dog and a dog ran out of his house across the yard and attacked wife and dog. My wife did not let loose of the leash quickly enough, but did let it go, gave the other dog some fierce kicks (according to reports) the dog owner tackled his dog (eventually) and unfortunately, started dragging him backward while he was chomped on my dogs thigh.

820.00 in vet bills.

The people paid the bill, have apologized profusely and promised us that they and their dogs will go to training and do what is necessary to prevent any recurrence.

It wrecked our holiday plans, but, well, that is the way it goes. I will get projects done and watch the dog in his fucking cone.

Elliot had both ACLs done at around $2K each about a year apart. He was mostly back to normal about two months post surgery (not limping or walking on only front legs). Outside of the scars, he’s a typical spaz pit now.

Had one done years ago and you couldn’t tell 4 weeks afterwards. He bent the metal split so he could fucking run. Vet said if we ever had to do it again he would be kept there and sedated. Every dog is different just like people. I haven’t had an acl for 20+ years. Just learned about it this summer.

We went home to western PA for an early Christmas with my family. The dog gets carsick unless he’s in the front seat. Drugged up on Trazadone because he has terrible anxiety. I get the back seat.
I get sick af in vehicles too.
