What's new

coldest spot in the 48?

Built 3 evening fires so far this week. I like burning up all our emptied plastic bottles with the wood again.
Got lazy this year and decided to buy good firewood. Still hasn’t been delivered so I’m coasting on what’s left of last year’s supply.
I’m not firing that stove up until the pipes are in danger or the wood shows up.

I do have a couple of cords of logs I can go grab in an emergency though ( I cleared trail this year and stashed them out of sight but handy). Trying to keep those as a last resort.

Had a little of just about everything today. Started off sunny, then clouded in with spotty rain showers. About 11:30 we got hailed on as we arrived at U.S. Foods Chef's Store. Then we had a few snow flurries as we left and that turned into sleet as we made it to Hobby Lobby. Now it's sunny again.

Gunnison must be the coldest in CO, but I'm thinking somewhere in ND?
I don't think it's in ND, but the coldest day I've seen out here in my career was -67 with the wind chill, which is to say fairly cold

We have seen 35 here a couple of nights, Youtube weather man says get ready it could get really cold next week!

looks like alamosa today, nope colder in oregon.

2nd day with frost on the windows. Might have to light the wood stove soon.
We’ve had an unusually beautiful and warm fall.
Same here. Last week it dipped below freezing at night for only the second time this fall, and this morning it was 39 when I went out to get my kid's bike out of the back of the SUV (I bought him a bike last summer and it had issues, took it back to the bike shop and they figured out they left a pair of brackets off during installation, repaired for no charge). Halloween forecast is 66/41 as well, so we might not see snow until close to Thanksgiving at this rate.

We had 1/2 inch of snow on the ground Monday morning, it was gone by noon.
This is the guy I watch

It's 26* here right now. The last two storms that blew thru in the last 7 days dumped snow on the Sawtooths to our north. They're all snow capped.

Confirmed.
I’ve driven through mt Washington myself in July august and still found couple of inches of snow next to the road while I’m wearing shorts and t shirt having driven from Portland hours before on my mini road trip escapades while visiting my grandpa over the years

Back during the Carter yearswhen the "fuel shortage" was on he urged everyone to turn their thermostats down to 68*! There was a story that went around some old guy in south Texas Wrote the President and said at 68* my air conditioner keeps freezing up :lmao:

It was 17* when I got up this morning and reached a high of 40 something right now it is 25 and supposed to be down in the teens again

Been warm here. Couple days ago was in the 40s. Snow nearly all melted, but then it snowed again.
Week before was single digits.
P8c from Holloween morning.

Usually by now we've had a day or two or -20*.

Tinfoil... global warmings.....
