California how bad does it suck ?

Then why are there a ton of ex-Californians in here worrying about California? Shouldn't they be worrying about themselves fucking things up wherever they are?
I don’t know about any of that. The ones I’m familiar with move here and worry about snakes and coyotes.

City vs rural. California is the 3rd largest state by area. It sounds like you've been lucky enough to get all of the ones from large population centers to move in near you. I'd probably want to move out too if I was in downtown LA or SF.

all true. just realize that from the depression/dust bowl, post WW2, and all the manufacturing that developed post war, California has been inundated with lots of great, industrious people and a TON of freeloaders and halfwits who thought they could make it.

The 3 generation californians aren't going anywhere... but the latecomers are having a hard time and, rightly, should find a place they can make it.

When they arrive at your state, realize they may have recently come from Ca, but their roots are in places like Indiana, Ohio etc.

Besides, people migrate. Been going on for years.
This. So many of the "Californians" complained about in NV are originally from somewhere else.

The first thing the stereotypical CA transplant does is try to distance themselves from their previous life. In Reno NV if you are 35-45 man it usually means following the template:
  • Buy a CCSB diesel 4x4 (or Raptor / TRX) with no trailer or truck things to do with it (alternate is Jeep Rubicon with angry grill and roof rack)
  • Adorn said useless truck with UNR apparel / back the blue / punisher logo
  • Purchasing an overpriced AR15 with all the useless gadgets - never shoot it, buy another one
  • Enroll eldest son in baseball and not shut the fuck up about it
  • Bash CA while quietly leaving out that the next scheduled medical procedure done is in CA there so Renown doesn't accidentally kill you
  • Ignore gas is same price
  • Ignore 2X car insurance premium
  • Ignore homeowners policy is getting canceled
  • Ignore utility bill is the same price as your old house in SJ
  • Ignore same property tax per year
  • Ignore crime rates
  • Ignore failing schools while simultaneously bashing CA school with better outcomes
  • Ignore having to smog your car every year instead of every other back to 1968

Where does all this economy come from? Avocado sales and porn?
There is a metric fuckton of high dollar manufacturing in CA, its a big state

Plus agriculture, tourism, wine, weed, hollyweird, silicon valley, etc…plus porn and avocados of course

Everything from peaches to persimmons and back, but to my knowledge avocados are mostly coming from Mexico. I just bought a 15pak bag of em for $5 that are from San Diego but most of the avos here are not US grown.

92% of the world's porn, is all Simi valley and San Fernando valley's work. :grinpimp:

Shit, this is a year old stating the UK was passed up in 2017 and Germany fell to California and is now 4th largest.

Ok, this is current as of last month.

The above is why I moved to Nye County.
My cost of EVERYTHING is a fraction of what we paid in CA.
And NO SMOG :flipoff2:

So does California’s inflated clown economy get accounted for when calculating it as super duper huge? Like that fact that it’s 4x expensive to build there as someone pointed out for example.

GDP doesn't factor in cost of living, nor is GDP a quality of life indicator.

Pretty sure things like construction costs and banking activities are. Anyhoo…seems like whatever metric is used would have to be adjusted for inflation if comparing CA to Mississippi for example

China has the second largest GDP in the world, but it doesn't have the second best quality of life in the world.

I'll let someone else who's feeling industrious explain the rest.

"You get what you pay for" - Nye County.
I'm 57 YO
I don't give a fuck about schools, my homeowners policy ain't getting canceled, my car insurance is a fraction of what it was, as are registration fees.

You fawkers in Reno are just as bad as the assholes in Vegas with your Blue State Bullshit :flipoff2::flipoff2:

I ain’t worried about it. Was just curious since everything is more expensive in California if that’s part of the reason the economy is so huge.

It's probably more to do with population size, physical size of the state, and the amount of resources available.

Google how GDP is calculated

Yes.if you weren't already looking for it and adjusting your tips accordingly like me.
Previously, I went to one restaurant that had a “living wage fee” We decided that was their tip. We were done at that point.

Edit: have never gone back, food was awesome, Michelin bib gourmond.

This is 100% accurate for Reno. We moved to Reno in 2017 from can be ause "we wanted to get out of CA". While I love where I lived, 10 acres of land off a dirt road, NV id pretty much a clone of CA..

Kind of. Restaurants will now just raise menu prices. I wish this bill had made tipping illegal as well. Tipping culture is ridiculous.

You want legislation prohibiting a free market? sounds like some commie shit out there in MO

Ahhhh CA transplant. That's why :flipoff2:

Yes, but a large economy doesn't automatically make it some awesome place to be.. 😂

You're right it doesn't. A massive economic force only helps "california how bad does it suck" not suck so bad. :blender:

Transplants, transplants everywhere!

If you wanted to, you could just choose not to tip. It's just a culture as you say. Doesn't mean it needs to be your culture.

Average Californian checking in- we definitely don't need any more laws.

Nor Cal sucks so bad that dump fee was $10 for load of concrete :flipoff2:
