What's new

Blew the HG on my 455

And if you advance it too much it will not want to start when hot.

I used to have a 454 MonteCarlo. Still have the motor in a truck. Vacuum and centrifugal advance being correct and advancing the timing did help it, new valve springs did a lot too. A new ignition module helped as well. It wasn't a tire smoker but it would push the 85 MPH speedometer back around to 0. I smoked every Cadillac and Mercedes I saw heading up I70 in the mountains here in it, the ones that tried to keep up couldn't. Top end was up there.

I never had done it either until I got my truck in 2008, when I was 18. I didn't have internet to help me I read books and service manuals.

I loved my haynes manual, its what i used to rebuild my engine at 20, when there really was no internet. I just never used a timing light, none of my vehicles ever needed timing checked or dicked with, and the kota was ECM controlled

So get a timing light and vacuum gauge and learn how to use them. Remind me of the make, model and year again.

Thats what the words said but what does that mean?

youre speaking fucking german here

Unscrew the air cleaner nut
Remove the air cleaner lid
Flip the air cleaner lid
Reinstall
Install air cleaner nut

what the hell does that do? you gonna tell me to check the blinker fluid next? :homer:

It increases airflow into the engine. If you have a entry air cleaner, it’s not a significant, but if you have one of the smaller feed tubes, it will make a big difference.

Oh, its a 14" edelbrock lid and base
Needs the tornado

Pay 300 or so to a reputable shop to get the Holley working right, or go with something like a holley sniper efi?

Do i NEED an electronic fuel pump? What i like about carb is lack of electronics, like my ktm supermoto, but is that worth anything or a car? or go efi and forget it?

Easier starts, better mpg would be cool, but so is a better tune...

I put Edelbrock fuel injection on the engine i put in my camaro. 600hp that starts runs and drives to the store just as easily as my 2008 mercury is pretty hard to beat

Put a 180 stat in and new gauges to have a better idea of whats going on, cool day but temps got to 230, so something is def going on, but only on hwy speeds

Radiator looks original, this is getting swapped next

this gizmo? is it 4x better than an 800 dollar holley sniper by having the individul injectors? can you tune it yourself or need expensive custom dyno tune ?
Id think for a forced induction it would better but naturally aspirated street car a TBI type would be plenty adequate, but not better.

The multi port systems are crazy expensive... Only worth it for max effort IMO.

Went up to 240 on the fwy and stayed there till i got home

center top of radiator 240 degrees
center bottom 140 degrees
upper hose 235
lower hose 195

water pump?

if center bottom of rad is a nice 140, seems like radiator is doing OK?

I have a new waterpump, but havent read about the clearancing thing. Also thermostat leaking from the gasket, I dont think its the right gasket for the edelbrock
