There was a trend like 15 years ago where guys were using fine thread drill screws (self tapers) on steel and aluminum wheels.

We did them on my buddies wheels. He was running 33 baja claws. They were loose fitting, would burp and spin on the wheels like tsl's. Those screws prevented beads blowing, but not the tires spinning on the wheels at low pressure and just created more leaks. Long story short those tires basically got destroyed by from the screws chewing up the beads.

I think I remember Corey Young saying he made some wheels for his 54s that had the same idea but with fine thread bolts.

It was a drag racer thing long before that. You're supposed to run the screw into the bead so it doesn't spin and it pulls the rubber tight preventing leaks.

Yes, running them parallel to the lug studs. But those would just get ripped off on rocks, and probably not work all that great to prevent blown beads.

Which is where the screws running behind the bead came frome.

Now a days if you want cheap beadlocks, wrap the bead area of the wheel in 2-4 wraps of duct tape. It works really well.

They work great. Usually air down to below 1 psi without worrying about a bead coming off. The 1/4" fine thread bolts are sealed with black rtv and dont leak. Second 20"x14" set is under construction with 2 valve stems, lighter centers and fewer bolts to reduce weight.

You still have the big chevy cab truck?

Where do you get the wheel shells again? I wouldn't mind a set of 49s for snow, but hard to swallow the cost on top of 20x14 stazworks for me

I ordered a set of Vision Manx bead locks on a whim this week to mount my new set of 40/13.5/17 Sticky SX2s. I haven't heard/read of any pros or cons so far. But for 272 each why not give em a try. Naturally, I wont be using that hideous black centercap. They should be arriving today

How are these holding up? These are stupid cheap

Had mine for a little over a year, holding up great. Only complaint is there a spot that holds water (now ice) that never drains out near the ring.

I love everything about these wheels but the price..and they‘re signature series for a true off road icon!

Yeah, all aluminum with two patterns drilled in the wheel which is nice. The little "safety ring" if you will around the perimeter of the ring sits just a **** hair higher than the head of the bolts.

Those tires look slick to. Lots of time in them, but how do they wheel?

Haven't got a clue yet haha It's the cheapest combo I could come up with for a dedicated snow setup. Super shitty year for the white stuff up here in Washington state. Load range D which is meh, but hopefully flex a little and with the groove time bite halfway decent. Hopefully get them out this weekend or next.

I like that style even better

What website is everyone ordering visions from? I haven't found a really great place yet? They offer a lot of options and most places are pretty confusing.
