Alec Baldwin Shot a Lady

Read somewhere some of the gunmen would tie the trigger back with wet rawhide then wearing a glove on their other hand just fan the hammer. Could be BS but...
Must be tru I saw it on TV once, and the cowboys on the train at Knott's Berry Farm Do It.:flipoff2::flipoff2:

Seriously though the single action I have will do it. Once the trigger is held down the hammer is free. I've never even thought to try it with live ammo

I have a old model single six. It won't fire without pulling the trigger.
That isn't the same type of gun, as far as I can tell. The type used on set is a first generation design, replica thereof, and has the firing pin attached to the hammer. I'm not seeing a firing pin on your hammer.

👍
But it is a old style 3 screw ruger, it has 4 hammer positions

Full cock
Without your finger pulling the trigger the hammer isn't contacting the firing pin, in baldwins situation the hammer isn't contacting the primer.

His gun may have had a little more hammer fall before a lock position, but unless the sear on the hammer is broken he pulled the trigger.

Its a 3 screw that never went for the recall? maybe i am wrong. I have never seen a 1/4 cock position. I bet if it was pulled to just below 1/2 cock it would set off a primer, potentially.

I tried to find out if it did before, I don't think it has. I'll check again when I have time.

I’m not sure if I understand this debate. I know you can hold the trigger in on some guns and fan the hammer. (Or single pull of the hammer) Are you guys suggesting he is truthful? I don’t care if he is holding the trigger, it’s still pulling it. Also, if he is dragging the hammer back and letting it fly, he obviously knows how it operates.

Have you guys ever “bump fired“ a gun with your belt loop? You could claim you didn’t pull the trigger there also. (You pull the gun) But if you’re doing it, you cant claim ignorance.

I'm saying that he had to pull the trigger.

Have I ever seen someone bump fire a gun? Come awn mann.:grinpimp:

Since no one here knows if the gun was modified or exactly what Baldwin actually did this discussion seems to be nothing but a big circle jerk

As far as I can tell it's in the original configuration.

Apparently those "investigating" this decided to join OJ to find the real killers.

2 months of investigation into a pretty simple matter relatively with minimal witnesses and nada.

Sweep.......................under...............................rug.

Best justice system money can buy

Heard something mentioned the other day.

If the scene called for Alec to put the gun to his own head and pull trigger, do you think he would have checked it or still maintained his position that someone else did it therefore it's go time?

That's how I explain it to people.....so it's not his fault eh. If I gave you a gun, said it was safe would you put it to your head and pull the trigger without checking it?

Just happened a few days ago. Already charged with manslaughter and of course went to jail on the spot.

Yeah, yeah......not in NM.

I still will say that there are very few people that wouldn't have seen the inside of the local PD if this were them. Not Alec though.

BURKBURNETT (KFDX/KJTL) — A Burkburnett man has been arrested for manslaughter after he allegedly accidentally shot and killed a man, according to an official arrest affidavit.

The affidavit states that shortly before 4 a.m. on Thursday, December 23, Burkburnett police responded to a home in the 600 block of Cottonwood for reports of an individual that had been shot in the chest.

After arrival, officers began rendering aid to Quenten Liford, who had an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.

The resident of the home and Matthew Tenney, a friend visiting the residence, were detained by officers.

Burkburnett Detective Krc questioned Tenney and the other man about the incident.

Tenney reportedly told the detective that he was looking at a new firearm that the resident had purchased. He said he thought that the gun was unloaded, and he pretended that he drew it from a holster, pulled the trigger, and the weapon discharged, striking Liford in the chest.

Tenney was booked into the Wichita County Jail on December 23 with a charge of manslaughter, a second degree felony. His bond is currently set at $250,000.

Nope

But when they are this close to the same thing with exact opposite outcomes as far as how LEO handles it, its worth noting,

Tenney was booked into the Wichita County Jail on December 23 with a charge of manslaughter, a second degree felony. His bond is currently set at $250,000.

Perfectly appropriate, not murder unless you can prove it, but you must take care when operating a real gun.

What’s that supposed to mean? You think someone should be arrested when there is no criminal statute for what they are accused of doing, just because of their social class?
Umm, manslaughter is a statute as far as I know.

We’ve been over this, but if you look up NM statutes regarding manslaughter, you may learn a bit, and understand why there is an investigation rather than an immediate arrest.

I’ve read it. You’re arguing that it’s reasonable and customary to take the word of someone who hands you a gun, that it’s empty. I say it’s not. Set that argument aside. The reason for immediate arrest is to investigate and preserve evidence.
