Must be tru I saw it on TV once, and the cowboys on the train at Knott's Berry Farm Do It.Read somewhere some of the gunmen would tie the trigger back with wet rawhide then wearing a glove on their other hand just fan the hammer. Could be BS but...
That isn't the same type of gun, as far as I can tell. The type used on set is a first generation design, replica thereof, and has the firing pin attached to the hammer. I'm not seeing a firing pin on your hammer.I have a old model single six. It won't fire without pulling the trigger.

Its a 3 screw that never went for the recall? maybe i am wrong. I have never seen a 1/4 cock position. I bet if it was pulled to just below 1/2 cock it would set off a primer, potentially.👍
But it is a old style 3 screw ruger, it has 4 hammer positions

Without your finger pulling the trigger the hammer isn't contacting the firing pin, in baldwins situation the hammer isn't contacting the primer.
His gun may have had a little more hammer fall before a lock position, but unless the sear on the hammer is broken he pulled the trigger.
I tried to find out if it did before, I don't think it has. I'll check again when I have time. Its a 3 screw that never went for the recall? maybe i am wrong. I have never seen a 1/4 cock position. I bet if it was pulled to just below 1/2 cock it would set off a primer, potentially.
I have a newer old army in my desk at work. Maybe i will try popping some caps today.I tried to find out if it did before, I don't think it has. I'll check again when I have time.
I'm saying that he had to pull the trigger.I’m not sure if I understand this debate. I know you can hold the trigger in on some guns and fan the hammer. (Or single pull of the hammer) Are you guys suggesting he is truthful? I don’t care if he is holding the trigger, it’s still pulling it. Also, if he is dragging the hammer back and letting it fly, he obviously knows how it operates.
Have you guys ever “bump fired“ a gun with your belt loop? You could claim you didn’t pull the trigger there also. (You pull the gun) But if you’re doing it, you cant claim ignorance.
If you're not joining in on the circle jerk gtfo.Since no one here knows if the gun was modified or exactly what Baldwin actually did this discussion seems to be nothing but a big circle jerk

I am starting to think i misremembered how they work or confused them with another revovler. My old army wouldnt do it either.
As far as I can tell it's in the original configuration.
That's how I explain it to people.....so it's not his fault eh. If I gave you a gun, said it was safe would you put it to your head and pull the trigger without checking it?Heard something mentioned the other day.
If the scene called for Alec to put the gun to his own head and pull trigger, do you think he would have checked it or still maintained his position that someone else did it therefore it's go time?
The two states clearly have different laws.Nope
But when they are this close to the same thing with exact opposite outcomes as far as how LEO handles it, its worth noting,
Tenney was booked into the Wichita County Jail on December 23 with a charge of manslaughter, a second degree felony. His bond is currently set at $250,000.

What’s that supposed to mean? You think someone should be arrested when there is no criminal statute for what they are accused of doing, just because of their social class? And 2 different classes of people apparently
Umm, manslaughter is a statute as far as I know. What’s that supposed to mean? You think someone should be arrested when there is no criminal statute for what they are accused of doing, just because of their social class?
We’ve been over this, but if you look up NM statutes regarding manslaughter, you may learn a bit, and understand why there is an investigation rather than an immediate arrest.Umm, manslaughter is a statute as far as I know.
I’ve read it. You’re arguing that it’s reasonable and customary to take the word of someone who hands you a gun, that it’s empty. I say it’s not. Set that argument aside. The reason for immediate arrest is to investigate and preserve evidence. We’ve been over this, but if you look up NM statutes regarding manslaughter, you may learn a bit, and understand why there is an investigation rather than an immediate arrest.
