What's new

A-Salt truck. 2002 International 4900

Test fit was alright. Note to self: Take Send Cut Send's tolerances more seriously.

All three cluster connectors are the same. Gonna browse Mouser tonight for a match.

Lastly, I need to draw up a retainer for the tach. Dumb thing about the Glowshift 7 color series is the tach is only pedestal mount. Might show my boys a little more Fusion 360 tonight and have them make a file to be cut or 3D printed.

That plug looks like an AMC era XJ radio harmess.

Huh. Guess I'll check the standoffs from another Glowshift gauge tomorrow. Threaded inserts in the back of the tach are M3-0.5 and that may be the same thread on the backs of the rest of the gauges. Glowshift sells a tripod bracket for the 3-3/4" tach. Just not for the GS-T709 that I have. Same diameter though.

Looked for standoff hardware at Family Center. No real dice. Grabbed a little LA battery while there. Need to find a diode to put in front of the battery so that the only consumers on it are the gauge cluster and maybe the radio.

Okie dokie. Got connectors and pins ordered. Figure out the tach hardware today. M3x10mm set screws at ace couple the Glowshift standoffs to the tach. Gonna order their bracket - 3-3/4" Gauge In-Dash Mounting Bracket

Because Glowshift emails me their coupons all the damn time, anything else I should grab to make shipping worthwhile?

Boys and I are camping at das haus for a couple days and I have some great weather to work on the truck. Getting this thing ready for the road again. It's gonna be my daily once more. I have a head unit to put in it as well that I need to find a decent camera for. I don't like touch screens, but went with it for the full screen reverse camera option.

Power dizzy block coming along. Went hunting for my bottle of liquid tape and found that it is no longer liquid :homer::lmao:. Suppose I'll solder up the rest and hopefully keep them separated enough to coat them all at once when I get a fresh bottle.

All the gauge standoffs have loctite on 'em now. Might start drilling the indicator blocks for LEDs tomorrow.

A guy I've talked with a few times that repairs the OE clusters on a regular basis has told me that the ECM may not like the signal it gets when aftermarket gauges are hooked up to the OE cluster connections. I guess there's a dual pigtail speed sensor needed to get a second signal for gauges. TBD.

Decided to tinker on this some more. Cutting the indicator light lense sections apart and test fitting. Good so far. I'll file a little more out of the windows to make room for paint thickness.

Kindergarten level work here, but coming along. Have to clean it up a bit, get the left turn signal lens fixed, and then work on potting and wiring the rest.

I got the power distribution block pulled out of the tin a couple days ago. It looks like shit, too. I cannot recommend E6000 as a potting materials. A 10oz tube only takes like a month and half to cure when you pump it all into a container.
