That seems pretty unlikely. That motor is probably strong but it’s pretty sad the junk GM has been putting out in the last 20 years or so
 
Not sure how familiar you are with the L77 Motor in that car, but I would start collecting parts to do a DOD delete. Lifters tend to collapse and the system is not worth saving. Do the delete and throw a cam, tune and long tubes at the same time.
 
From the time it was put in service, to the day it was retired, it was never turned off or cared for.

I want one, but i want to try to find a 2014+. The interior looks a lot better and it's column shift instead of a gay console shifter.:smokin:

I have bought, raced and abused a few mid 90s police pack caprices with close to 20l0k. They were in remarkably good mechanical condition. So he may be gambling but there is no reason to assume that car is junk.

Spoken by someone that doesnt have a clue. It will vary by dept but most are very well taken care often much better than private owner vehicles. Theyre serviced regularly parts replaced when needed not when someone gets around to it. Most do idle or drive for an entire shift but generally they arent run 24/7. It will most likely have an hour meter on it as well. Ive been looking on and off for one but Im holding out for a detective or supervisors car.. it will be another rwd v8 car to go along with the m5.

Yeah do a DOD/AFM delete on it and maybe a catback. Clean it up and drive the shit out of it. Leave the 2.92 gears alone. The g8 didn't have a transmission dipstick, so i'd add one if that's how yours is. You want a driver, well you got one.

Yes. Keep the 2.92s. You will be able to to hit 155+. The police chargers top out at 135.

Top out at 135?....I don't think so. You mean they are governed to 135?......maybe. But why is it in most police chase videos I watch the Chargers usually go 150+?

149-152 depending on the source. It's limited in the tune but you can bet even with limiters removed it is probably some combination of aero/hp limited soon thereafter.

I had an early 2011 R/T FWIW. All the Dodge cars are heavy pigs and handle like shit :D

I wouldn't mind getting one of the Chevy PPV's to beat around on if the price was right.

He bought it to daily not build a landspeed car out of. 3.27s won't limit him to less than 155. 3.27s is what the Auto GXP G8s came with and are listed with ~175 top speed.

As per Las Vegas metro. Maybe he just drove like a ****. My shitty 2001 F150 topped out at 155. That could be the V6 Charger. Lots of police cruisers use the V6.

So why would he waste his time going to 3.27's? I put a Camaro 3.45 diff in my G8 10 years ago. I don't regret that. The manual GXP's came with 3.70's.

My DD is a 2003 silver avalon, or a 2015 grey camry. I blend in with the grandpa's or Uber drivers LOL!

Even my redneck ass wheeler toyota tacoma doesn't have any right wing srickers:flipoff2:

If 90% of his driving is 80mph and down then as far as bang for the buck, 3.27s are cheap and give a noticeable improvement to performance. I'd tell him to go 3.45s but those diffs are almost double the price of 3.27s, so I'd pass on that.
 
I drive about 100 miles a day 70 to 90 mph. So I will leave the diff unless it grenades. I have hp tuners so a tune is a given. Dod and a cam If it starts acting up. I drove a crown Vic p71 for years and a Tahoe ssv. I like when people drive politely around me.
 
Sounds like you're on it. DOD delete / Cam swap and a tune is a good start. A trans tune really makes them drive like different cars. Join some Holden Groups. SS interior parts swap over and are nice. You can get some of the higher trim line interior goods from Australia as well, but prices are all over the place. Fun cars for the $$ and comfortable cruisers. At least is was Garland PD and not Richardson. Richardson are dicks and chase people down for 1 mph over. Garland is more relaxed so they weren't constantly flogging it for stupid stuff 😂

Finally got it off the trailer today, fuck the 12 hr days. Runs strong. It’s going be fun. Lots of clean up to get ride of the wrap. Then low oil pressure popped up on the display. Do these also have the O ring problem. It has 8000 hrs on the motor. 5400 is idle hrs.
 
check the screen under the oil pressure switch behind the intake manifold by the firewall
