What's new

2” .156 wall Dom

With the dimples rifling doesn't seem necessary. Years ago there was a website called spudgun. There was lots of info there.

I remember finding that when I built my tater launcher, really wanted one of their rifled barrels.

Spudgun Technology Center. I used a length of their rifled PVC in my last potato gun build, and had them chamfer/knife edge the end of it. Their breech load machined launcher was pretty badass.

Still online but doesn't look like they're taking orders right now, that was probably 8-9 years ago that I built that one (it's still going strong).

What’s the real world difference between the rifled on not?

Ha, my 2”x.120 6061 just landed. Going to weld to the half nipple I bought and see. Bought 2-3’ lengths, going to try to roll one to induce spin. When I fuck that up I’ll weld the second one up

I was thinking a tab of metal welded in the barrel to block off half or a third of it, at the valve end
so the air hits the bottom of the ball more than the top, making the back-spin
try to keep your air supply unrestricted. Take a try with how the old paintball guns induced spin with a snubber inside the barrel near the muzzle at the top of the bore to make your backspin.

What was the snubbber. No paintball experience

the ones of those I've looked at had a little rubber bit at the chamber end, not the muzzle

I wonder if a small amount of adhesive or something of the like with a very thin strip of rubber on one side of the barrel the last 2 inches would do anything or just get ripped off. Same idea, cut a slot in barrell, drop a strip of rubber through mohawk style so you can control for depth and test different amount of contact/adjust for wear to get it rolling. Before any of this fuckery I'm rolling the barrel in my tubing roller to see what happens. Only bitch is I wish I'd ordered a 6"er instead of 2 3' pieces, the center will be rolled, the end, not so much. Weld together and cut apart after?

Spring loaded coarse file instead of rubber, the teeth should bite in better than rubber. Do test both and post the video.

Hypothetically, I bet you could have fun with making discarding sabot rounds with a section of greased up DOM and some expanding foam.

I like where your heads at.
My biggest concur now is where to test it. If I go up in the mountains like I usually do I gotta tote a generator and air compressor.

On the other hand I’m reasonably sure I won’t hit anything behind my house but the smud transfer station back there makes it a little spicy.

Get a scuba tank? Or even CO2 tank?

If only you knew someone with a 10 cfm york compressor on their jeep.

I live by my CO2 tanks if I don’t need more than 2 or 3 hundred psi for something. They’re compact and easy to travel with. Anything high pressure or volume we drag around the N2 bottles.

If you’re using one of those cheap Amazon blasters, they’re only rated for 110psi anyway, CO2 is the shit! That 1-1/2” Goyen valve has tremendous flow and really sends it:smokin:

Adding to this, I use 20oz paint ball tanks for small gags, and keep 7 and 3-1/2 oz bottles as well as 12g cartridges on hand for the smaller stuff.

It’s really surprising how much energy is in those small bottles!

yea, let's try to put something together maybe get tires on some snow at the same time?

edit: if we do that we will need to paint the golf balls black:lmao:
When you ready?

Think I’m going to go with some adhesive backed sandpaper down the end of the barrel, fit is tight enough it should do something.

Maybe a 50lbs test out the back yard is in order tonight.

Looking good. Shoot me a text, I don’t have much planned for the weekend.
