1982 Pro Street ElCamino Conquista refresh

I usually make my crossover the same size as the rest of the exhaust but an H pipe can be a little smaller without hurting anything.

I've heard of the paint method or drawing lines on the pipes but generally the location is dictated by where it physically fits in the car

It helped a ton with drone and in cab noise in my F250 that has glass packs dumped under the bed.

Since the 3.5" pipes are borderline over size anyway a little smaller cross over doesn't worry me too much.

I can't visualize right now where a good spot is but the next time I get it up on the lift I'll scout it out.

It can use some drone reduction in the worst way.

I think it will work here.

Took it out for the first time since the last time. My daughter actually rode to breakfast with me
It seems like a float is stuck, starts loading up and dies.
Would spring loaded needles stop that, fuel pressure says 6 psi maybe I just need to lower the height?
I have forgotten to much :lmao:

I ran 8-9psi regulated to a Holley carb on several occasions without issue so I don't see why 6psi would be one. You running pump gas with ethanol in the car? Fuel cells with open vents and carburetors in general hate ethanol and tend to pull a ton of moisture out of the air and make the white goop of death.

Do you have a vent extension on the rear bowl? Do you run a rubber hose between the vents with a notch at the top to prevent slosh? And are you sure it's loading up and not running out of fuel because of a restriction between the regulator and carb?

Edit: Dying fuel pump would cause that also.

Straight 91 pump gas, this car has never had ethanol in it (outside of the bullshit in the fuel).

I don't have a slosh hose on it now but have had in the past.

It won't leave hard enough on the street with the dinosaur tires to slosh fuel :lmao:

Ill pull the filter and pump apart to make sure nothing is going wrong.

Got the 2 post lift cylinders resealed so I could lift it up to pull the right rear axle.

These are those fancy pants sealed bearings and I guess this one died.

Watching Cleeter put that whipple on his F150 I was thinking about you the whole time, I am not sure you are ready for that much fun :dustin:

I don’t know about the bearing, but the disc has seen better days.

Disc is new, very little wear.
Just looks bad cause "racing compound"

I got the $70 bearing swapped out and it's all back together.
Can't get back to it for a bit other projects going on now.

yer gonna kill a busload of nuns/needs more triangulation... :flipoff2:

sidenote... fukin do it! :smokin::smokin:
I've never liked how the front of the frame looks and I still don't really understand why these guys aren't just tubing the whole front clip using the factory suspension locations.

I assume for some rules of certain street car/small tire etc. classifications but don't really know.
I'd be fine with going to struts but that's more shit I have to buy.
I should be able to do the tube work like the above pic for no money.

Eric Kenward on Facebook is your friend for that! And No, it will not be class legal for anything other than Grudge racing but who cares.
I'll check him out.

Since this car has had big tires from day one and no trans brake or electronics its never been in the right class.

I have all the equipment to do a cool front clip with tubular core support.

Pretty cool stuff

Between the stuff they make and the TRZ stuff you can't go wrong.

The tube core support gives you lots of room. If you have the materials, then it's just a matter of finding time.

TRZ long travel and that tube front end is the hot setup in no prep for cars that are not all tube chassis.

You need a set of twins and a blow through carb for this thing and some 28's. All the no prep races have true street and index classes now and your car would fit in those classes with ease.

I don't have TRZ money but I do have a basic fab shop
I fuckin hate how 28's look:barf: but I get rules and all.

I'm coming around to a blow through setup...
I only care about street driving this car, if it never gets raced again but I can cruise I'll be happy.

Right now it needs tires, rear gear and tighter converter, cooling system needs flushed and radiator lower neck resoldered.

I'm really bad about goal creep...

If your only goal is to street drive it I wouldn't go toobing out the front. Throw in an LS with the OD auto trans of your choice, a vintage air system and enjoy cruising. Racecar parts suck at doing street car things and shit gets old fast.
