Tow Rig / DD / Plow Rig Tires

Well glad I asked. Recon Grapplers are off the list. There goes my dream of tall skinny tires lol.

I was going to ask if you had a teenage kid who knows how to do tire changes. Burn the rears then swap front to rear before heading home....:stirthepot:

Duratracs are king around here with our 4 seasons, 35/12.5/17’s are E rated, current set have 75k kM on them. Will be buying another set before winter

Toyo just released a new tire.

Got a set of these on the dually based off a friend of mines recommendation. Gotta say they're a bit more aggressive than I thought they would be. However, said friend has em and uses his pickup bout like I do with hauling most of the time and having to get places that warrant such a tread. I guess I'll report back to say if they're worth it or not. :flipoff2:

You'll like them. I prob have abou 10k miles on mine, no noticeable wear.

Pulled my turd through some muck and some sand.

I'm at a constant 10k lbs. Haven't been in a position where I've needed to engage the lockers yet.

"Project flapjack"

Not much in there...couple axles and suspension. Still waiting for room in the shop to bring it in and dig into the transmission valve body. Just got the front driveshaft done last night. Still a few months out before I start on the cool ****.

Looking at Tire Rack and a 285/75R16, the base price of the AT KO3 is $305.99 per tire and the HD KT is $324.99 (the MT didn't come up). Basically $20 per tire doesn't seem crazy. I don't pretend to know everything that goes into tire pricing, but the KT supposedly has a longer wearing compound and the ATs just haven't been wearing as long on my K2500 as they have with lighter vehicles.

Some of the bigger sizes for 18s and 20s are $400-450. Which is crazy to me.

Picked up a 1/2” bolt yesterday driving through a bridge construction site on the interstate. Clean in and out puncture in the middle of the tread. My BFG AT KO2 tires were already on the replace list for the summer, so looks like I’m getting new tires now. Heading to the local tire shop to either get 35” Toyo OC MT or Toyo OC RT Trails both in LRE F. It mostly comes down to price and availability as we’re heading North in 2 weeks with the flat fender jeeps to go trail riding for a few days.

Ended up with the Toyo OC RT tires. They were available sooner, and still stupid expensive. Ended up paying $490 a tire for them, then the mount and balance. We shall see how they do in the long run.

Really wish I could have gotten another set of BFG AT KO2’s. Regional warehouse only had 3 and no idea if they could get a 4th. Sucks they were discontinued as I got 45k out of them on the Ram 3500.

I've got 30k on the Maxxis RZR AT on my F150. Wearing very well and rotated every 10k. I'll be getting a new set once these are done. I'm guessing I'll get at least 50k out of them. 275/70/18E

Just put another set of these on my new to me F250. Metric 35s. 3rd set I've bought. Always been a great tire.

I like the siping there. Not just the interlocking but also at different angles in tread. Those look pretty sweet if they come in decent sizes and don't require me to pawn a kidney.

Odd that it looks like 3195lb load rating on a ton of sizes. Kinda weird that their 235\85R16 is almost the same as their 285\70R17

I think I paid 1600 for a set if 285-70-17 and that was with the road hazard and bull**** Colorado sales tax

I’ve been running the 235/80r17 Toyo open country CT on my dually. Great snow tire. Went up ice house road in February going up to airport flats hauling a large cabover camper towing a trailer/jeep before the plows during a storm. Momentum was critical… Truck hauls a large cab over camper 75% of the time it’s used. Also tow an enclosed trailer with dirt bikes or a trailer/crawler most the time. Had no confidence in the china bombs that came on it stock. Tires have been wearing great. Slight cupping. I rotate the rear every oil change.
