From a while back. Killed it trying to mow cotton plants.

****in grease worms man, they are bad this year
The demise of this started a few years ago. Guy operating it at the time ran it until it stopped. I’m shocked it lasted a few more years and a bunch of acres before finally giving up to the ghost. Crazy thing is a full box was cheaper than parts to rebuild it.

Our customer sent this truck out (2020 Pete 579) to have a rear crossmember replaced. It's not uncommon for them to break, as they are aluminum.

HOWEVER, this is what they got back. so now I'm gonna charge them about the same amount of money to fix that other places **** up.

Don't use "crown diesel 24/7" in the Houston/Baytown area unless you want your **** looking like this.

What am I missing? I see the stacks of washers but what else?

I think we need a before pic and a how it should be done pic.
HDTs are not something that a lot us are familiar with.
No argument - more like, no idea…

Not every hole gets a bolt, but every bolt gets a washer....... or 3........

Course thread? Nylocks? You wouldn't think that stuff is standard.

Coarse threaded Grade 8 bolts are pretty standard fare. Not Nylocks and extra washers. DOT will have a field day.

I figured they did that to keep the threads out of the holes so it's all bolt shank going through both pieces.
That's the general idea. However, lots of mom and pop places do that because they don't want to take the extra time to make it right the first time. From the factory, Huck bolts are used, however, properly sized grade 8 hardware is acceptable as a replacement for the Hucks due to not all places having the proper tool to install them.

A few more of it going back together. Bent:
Inner C
Reid knuckle
3/4 bolt
Artec steering arm
D60 spindle
Brake caliper bracket (Branik)
Tore RVC boot
Sweet Servo cracked under pressure
Reid Bronze bushing destroyed as well as lower bearing cap

I think that is it?? It is going back together. Last needed parts showed up this week so it should be all together this weekend.

Mental note, do not jump car with soft suspension!!:grinpimp:

matzell

thats a hard hit...

i cannot tell. what is the tie rod end for? I see double end ram, track bar w/ heim. But what is the tie rod end is for something behind the knuckle/axle?

btw love how you rigged the loose caliper for the recovery.

4500 class steering. Has a steering box and a double ended ram, both.

impressive man. wow.... how high or far would you estimate you were in free fall :smokin:
Maybe a 2' water bar, 3rd gear low range? 30 mph maybe at the most. It popped up and nose dived pretty good. maybe 4-5' of air. I have launched it much higher and further racing at the Dirty Turtle. Problem is was not a jump but put me out of sorts. Just did not stick the landing! :smokin: It may have been a past problem that showed itself. Lower cap on knuckle had been bent, I could see the rust from not being flat. I looked it over before the trip but did not find it.
