Not only are they paying it, they will wait months for the privilege.Ive been watching the TRX’s for sale locally. Over the past few months the markup went from 20k to 50k and just went up to 60k.
People are paying so why wouldn’t they.

Plus whatever you were upside down on your past 2 financed out the ass trucks too, right?Yesterday is my one year anniversary. I now have a low mile one owner 2020 Ram 2500 with a 72 month loan![]()

Gonna be good deals on trucks during the fall of Rome. Thats fer damn sure.I wonder how many of these folks will just be handing the keys to the bank like they did on their house back in '08/'09 when it's worth half what they paid for it just a year or two prior? If you're paying these prices you're insane.

Why don't they consider that the truck they have, thats only 4 to 5 years old and not even paid off yet, is a much wiser investment than some shoddy built, overly complex and way overpriced turd?Yep.
If someone doesn't like that price they are welcome to go find one cheaper. And if they can't find one they will probably go back to the original dealer but the truck is no longer available and they pay to custom order one.
Welcome to the "Scarcity" chapter of Econ 101.

Financing a truck for longer than it'll run reliably....my goodness.![]()

It’s absolutely stupid. A buddy of mine bought a pickup a few years back for 20k. He traded it in last month for 21k. He put 65k on it. How does this work?
It is. I've always been the guy who buys the well maintained low mileage 4-5 year old vehicle for less than half the original sticker price. That's just how I roll. I don't need the new car smell. I'm just fine with that 4-5 year old vehicle in good shape with 50k miles on it to save tens of thousands over the equivalent new vehicle. Why don't they consider that the truck they have, thats only 4 to 5 years old and not even paid off yet, is a much wiser investment than some shoddy built, overly complex and way overpriced turd?
Is the urge to keep up with the Jones that powerful?
We have 3 6.7 Cummins.I dont care about his financial decisions, but you think a brand new truck wont "run reliably" for longer than 72mo?![]()

How do you get financing with something like that? No dealer is going to finance 50K mark up....
I guess I don't get it.If a kid is raised in a climate where material possessions are the indicator of success they will want those signs of success at whatever the cost.
How many guys have you known who got a new job and immediately bought a new pickup? Everyone around them congratulates them on their new status symbol commodity.
We're an odd group here as the thing that ties us all together is a love for taking random old truck parts and scabbing them together into something fun to use. Buying used is a benefit to us, as others said we can get something at a discount because it has a few scratches and some dog hair in the carpet.
I bet the golf cart utv forums are a ****show of "look at the new thing I just financed and traded in my 'old' thing that was 2 years old but not the coolest thing anymore so I couldn't keep it"...

That's what I was thinking. I bet a lot of it is made up in inflated trade-in value that they know they'll get back with inflated used prices and the rest is cash down. Like yeah, we'll give you $40k on paper for trade that's worth $30k book trade then you only need $10k down to do a "zero down" finance. You essentially just gave the dealership a damn good vehicle and $10k cash to still finance full sticker. How do you get financing with something like that? No dealer is going to finance 50K mark up....

My BIL's requires that his vehicle is no older the four years. He works for EPA or some ****. I don't understand how your vehicle is related, but he has to show up in a vehicle no older than four years. If a kid is raised in a climate where material possessions are the indicator of success they will want those signs of success at whatever the cost.
