It’s a 93. Should have went to the scrap yard 10 years agoThis truck has been through 4 driver side and now two passenger side manifolds.
It's a '93 3500 5.7 tbi.
What causes this?
Aww come awn man, this is the new service truck, we've owned it less than 10 years. It’s a 93. Should have went to the scrap yard 10 years ago
At least how it works up here
Are you even allowed to drive something that old in commiefornia?Aww come awn man, this is the new service truck, we've owned it less than 10 years.
Dorman, couldn't locate factory manifolds, I guess that I should try harder?Replacements have been dorman type stuff rather than GM?
Thats a couple month old dorman, that replaced the stock factory. This is me being jealous of a almost 30yo vehicle with factory heat shields still on the exhaust manifold . Fuck they even still look new
Antiseize was used this last time, not the time before. Was antiseize used on the last break ?
Think of trying studs and brass nuts ?
My train of thought. All repop manifolds suck.
Buy cheap headers and remflex gaskets
I'll keep you in mind, I'll check local yards first.I don’t think I have any on hand but the pnp has plenty of those manifolds if you need a set. I can get them decked before shipping if you want also.
No solid hangers and the y pipe has a flexible connector to try and stop the driver side from cracking.Do you have solid exhaust hangers ? Those trucks won’t tolerate much rigidity in the exhaust
I really don't want to resort to headers.
Yes, mostly smog nazis. Price really isn't a concern anymore, I've got at least $500 in manifolds + my hourly rate. What's the objections? smog nazis?
There has to be a cheap set of factory replacement shortys. Remflex will make up for the inconsistency/warpage.
Torqued to specs. Driver side dorman gasket, cracked down by the collector. This may be a silly idea, but… I’ll ask anyway.
What gasket did you used and did you gorilla torqued them on?
Too tight and excessively preventing the manifold from expand and contract?
Also, I’m failing to see what broke on manifold(s) in pics.
I think they should’ve been find despite lubricated bolts.Maybe I should reduce torque by 30% since I'm lubricating the bolts...
Possibly, the other hang up besides smog is... my dad's my boss and he's a stock purest, so I'll pick some out and we'll see.I think they should’ve been find despite lubricated bolts.
Just get CA-approved shorty headers…?
