This truck has been through 4 driver side and now two passenger side manifolds.
It's a '93 3500 5.7 tbi.
What causes this?

Was antiseize used on the last break ?

Think of trying studs and brass nuts ?

I know its a spendy proposition but try ARP studs thru Summit racing, online thats the best stud or bolt you could buy and the best way to buy them.

Had a set of manifolds I gave away might still have the bolts, ill look.

It has new engine mounts, any suggestions on better quality manifolds? I really don't want to resort to headers.

I don’t think I have any on hand but the pnp has plenty of those manifolds if you need a set. I can get them decked before shipping if you want also.

I'll keep you in mind, I'll check local yards first.
Decking would be great though, I've been using a long sanding board .

Do you have solid exhaust hangers ? Those trucks won’t tolerate much rigidity in the exhaust

I was gonna mention pick n pull. There are lower mileage Chevy trucks of that flavor still in the yards and a factory manifold would be ideal.

Also ebay might turn up something for you.

What's the objections? smog nazis?

There has to be a cheap set of factory replacement shortys. Remflex will make up for the inconsistency/warpage.
Yes, mostly smog nazis. Price really isn't a concern anymore, I've got at least $500 in manifolds + my hourly rate.

I first reaction is how much room you have to work in there. holy crap

This may be a silly idea, but… I’ll ask anyway.

What gasket did you used and did you gorilla torqued them on?

Too tight and excessively preventing the manifold from expand and contract?

Also, I’m failing to see what broke on manifold(s) in pics.

Torqued to specs. Driver side dorman gasket, cracked down by the collector.
Passenger side no gasket, cracked under the heat shield on the first outlet (cylinder #2).

I think they should’ve been find despite lubricated bolts.

Just get CA-approved shorty headers…?
Possibly, the other hang up besides smog is... my dad's my boss and he's a stock purest, so I'll pick some out and we'll see.
