What is your largest expense?

We have zero debt. Havent had debt for fifteen years or so. I am going to say taxes.

36% Income
4% State Income
~10% sales tax
15.6% FICA since I am self employed
and Lord knows how much in back door taxes like Fuel, and groceries. We do spend over $5000 a month on company fuel, conservatively.

Just the easy stuff is 65%. After that is whatever my wife spends. Usually close to $15K a month, and then she tells me to stop spending money.

ignoring the obvious theft answer because it is plain and boring

it'd be a toss up between the gravel place (because concrete ain't cheap) and the scrapyard (because they've always got lots of cool shit that I'm pleased as punch to pay 15 cents a pound for)

either food or electric after that, they're just about tied at 1-200/mo

Holy shitballs, your wife spends 180k/Yr on random shit

I feel like that's not super easy to do :homer:

Groceries is probably the biggest around here

Auto insurance is right up there.

Then fuel and then house payment.

Where the fawk do you store it all :lmao:

If i spent another 100k/yr on shit id have a Cessna 182, mini ex, machine tools, trucks galore..... Id need a 100x60 just to store my shit :grinpimp:

I am very thankful that my fiancé doesn't spend much $ (relatively)
Think so huh? :lmao:

There's always something...

I thought it would be hard but it's not. :flipoff2:

It only took 7 replies to get to the (more often than not) correct answer for most Americans.

When you lump together all of the taxes we pay (including property, sales and "at the pump" fuel taxes) taxes are by far the largest expense of most Americans (larger than mortgage/rent) and most Americans never even think about it or realize it.

Add in employer paid taxes (on the employee's behalf) and its even worse.
Not a chance for "most" Americans by volume.

Food for me, far exceeds my taxes on an annual basis.

My biggest expense is paying the subcontractors I have keeping my business running in Phoenix while all I really have to do is answer my phone, and create work, from my cabin at 8100' in eastern AZ.
My biggest personal expense is the mortgage on said cabin, that would have been half the amount under DJT. :shaking:

My fire insurance is 3500 a year, and my supplemental is 1200.

I should include that my 4000 a month payment includes my property tax too
:lmao::lmao::lmao:
$915 with an impound account, taxes and ins included in So Cal, High Fire.
