What's new

What did you do to your Dodge today?

97 2wd, removed the front bumper and ordered parts.

The bottom radiator hose along with the right side of the radiator do not warm up even with the truck at operating temperature. Water pump maybe? Or because I have the heater core bypassed?

They do that when working as should. Hot in top, cool out bottom.
Dash reads 210. The water pump inlet is cold along with the water in the fill, it never built up pressure.

I don't notice these exact conditions in my chevys, they are more consistent temperatures across the engine and cooling system.

Can you grab the upper radiator hose without get burned when it’s at 210 on the dash?

Sound like either thermostat running too cool or radiator cap not sealing, and possibly inaccurate dash reading?

Upper radiator hose is scalding hot to the touch. I ordered a water pump and am going to order a thermostat and cap.

Ok. I got the new bumper on, I had to straighten the brackets out because apparently dodge uses two different mounting hole patterns on them. Of course I ordered the wrong ones.

I installed the heater core and now the cooling system seems to work correctly :homer:.

I broke the fuck out of everything that I touched in here but I got it changed.
If any of you have ever changed the heater core on one of these then you know that you have to remove the entire dash to change the heater core.

I didn't do that. I removed the top of the dash and cut the old heater core out. I then uncrimped the tubes on the new heater core and installed them, then the core itself. I recrimped the tubes into the core once it was all in place then reinstalled the hold downs.

I helped my son do his. Pulled the whole dash out. what a pane in the ass it was,

I forgot about these. I couldn't get the plastic to snap in place without flattening these welds out with a soldering iron.

Installed Bank's cold air intake. Nice fit and finish. Seems to have made truck quieter.

Wanted to try something new, owned them all except for zf prior to this swap.

I'm currently driving a 17 3500 with a g56 and it's been good since I swapped out that muff cabbage flex plate/flywheel rubber garbage they claim to call a clutch.

I wonder how it compares to the others with what I'd assume slightly different ratios other than 1:1

7.3 or 6.0 zf6?

Damn close ratios to yours, 1-3 are a lil tighter and od is a smidge taller. I’ll never be able to gross anywhere close to what trans or a real truck can pull, but it was a fun project. No complaints so far with sb dual disk 🤟

How is it? I've been considering that cause I hate how high the reverse is on the g56.

yep. I don't think I will pull the trigger on that at all. Especially since I took the plunge on building a buggy.

First impression is I like it. Had to move our 75hp M7060 Kubota on our heavy ass 20ft equipment trailer this weekend to set up a deer stand. I tried it out and it made it a ton easier to maneuver in 2LO.

07 2500 5.7L 4x4. . . .

Drive side exhaust manifold gasket The rearmost upper bolt snapped. The other 7 came out clean. The Leslie drill jig was a heaven send, though I had to ad a 90* drill adapter to get in there. Took 1 hr from start to removing the manifold. Then 7 more hours over two days to extract the broken bolt, helicoil the threads, and reinstall the manifold. I used Permatex copper RTV, which is 6hrs in to a 24hr final cure. Hoping for the best. . .
