What's new

Well? Whos winning?

When I was in HS we had an elective class called "International Relations", and we'd hold mock UN sessions and have field trips to the Berkley Library as it was a depository for UN documents, (pre-www). Anyway it was a fun way to practice debate skills, and to learn about the workings of other countries. The teacher was an unmarried female with a boy haircut, wore too much makeup and WAY too much perfume, so I'm sure she was a liberal, but I don't recall her EVER voicing her opinion on politics, even though it was a political class.
I graduated hs in ‘83, I don’t remember anyone be anything other than impartial. I think things were just still on the up and up back then, the DoE was only 2 years old!

Graduated HS in '98. Politics were never discussed outside of teaching about how our government functions.

The American history teacher I had my senior year was my favorite. Every year when he would cover the supreme court he would say the same ol thing: "If any of you ever becomes president, I have only one request: Nominate me to the supreme court. I say it every year, and maybe I'll get lucky and one of you will actually be president."

Thought they were asylum seekers fleeing persecution.:homer:

Thank God that idiot Bob Casey is f'n gone, along with his buddy Matt Cartwright.

Graduated in the mid 80's also and I definitely remember in my civics class getting into it with my civics teacher. She had a hyphenated name and boy haircut and lived with her "friend". She had no problem injecting her politics into the class. Our fallout was when she was disparaging Vietnam Vets, of which my dad is one.

Let's all hope it stays that way:

The AP called the race Thursday afternoon, projecting that McCormick will narrowly win with 49% of the vote compared to Casey’s 48.5% share. As of Thursday, 99% of the votes had been counted, and the Casey campaign has highlighted that the tight margin may ultimately trigger an automatic recount as required by state law.

It looks out of touch for Casey but I know, I know, I know...

I graduated in 1990 from Meridian HS and I don't remember having any teachers who pushed their politics on the students. That being said, one of my favorite teachers in my senior year was in a class called Government. The teacher was also the Mayor of Meridian at the time and later went on to be an Ada County Commissioner. He explained how the city ran, how the city council worked and answered a bunch of questions from us about the city police and city laws. He was a pretty cool guy.

remind me why we put college education on a pedestal again?
Because it makes gov connected bankers rich, along with admin at gov schools while enslaving young kids to payments for the rest of their life to pay for basket weaving degrees in exchange for minimal marketable skills.

But it sure does give them an opportunity to drive insane lefty ideas into the minds of receptive vessels looking to learn.

Its a pyramid scheme.

At least there's little chance the recount (if any) will involve:
  • a "broken pipe water leak"
  • paper over windows
  • observers locked out
  • duffel bags full of unfolded ballots
  • a marked increase in # of ballots
  • other obvious 2020-ish fuckery
. . . so a recount should not change the outcome

Oh yea, thats right. So pure

I'm curious.

For those of you like Kurt, where the boss sends a letter to all employees talking about support, etc.
Did they send a letter like that after the last election? Why not? Seems like political favoritism to me, to offer workers time outs or support for one candidate but not for another.

Also, Democrats are so stupid and out of touch, that millions did not know Biden had dropped out. Google reported millions of searches for "Did Biden drop out" on election night. :shaking:

My school sent this too, and no, they definitely wouldn't if it went the other way.

Same here; the only HS teacher I remember being remotely political was an Economics teacher who thought Communism was evil, misguided, and/or idiotic . . . but his stance seemed more logical than political

None of my teachers ever said shit about politics other than my Civics teacher senior year and even then, while he would share his own opinions, he was unbiased in what he taught and just encouraged discussion. I went into that class as a very outspoken atheist who was fully expecting to butt heads with the teacher knowing he was pretty religious, was involved in the Christian youth shit at the school, etc. Was shocked he never once pushed any of that in class and he ended up being one of my favorite teachers.

My history/math teacher in my junior and senior years of high school was the same way about Communism. I graduated in 1991 so the USSR collapse was happening and he used that to show why Communism/Socialism always fails. He was also my favorite teacher, he just passed away this last spring.

The only teacher I ever had who was even remotely showing his political side was Mr. Hughes my 4th grade teacher in 1977. He was a former Marine who had fought in both Europe and later in Asia during WW2. He despised communism and hated Hitler while promoting good conservative values. I would imagine he would have voted for President Trump if he is still amongst the living.

Eh, I disagree. It's better to have a part time representative who lives and works locally than a professional representative who spends most of their time away from the people they are representing in Washington. No term limits encourages the latter because a full-time rep can spend 100% of their time campaigning. Sure, maybe it'll take longer to get things done, but it's government. They're not supposed to act fast.
The proof of the above statement is look how many go into the job as a regular wage earner and when they are done with congress they have investments and jobs us middle class tax payers wish we had.

And then we pay their insurance and retirement :shaking:

Ummm, yeahh . . . while we're making a Christmas list, can we get rid of the golden parachute for congresscritters & senatards? Also, make 'em use the same health care plan they deemed good enough for the commoners - they should suffer from Obamacare until they fix it :flipoff:

Did CA and AZ hire a special needs class to count votes  Three days and they still are not finished :shaking:
Technically Utah is only at 76% as well, Oregon, Washington, and Maryland are in the 80s, Alaska at 77%. California at 58% is sad, but it also looks like we have twice as many votes to count as Texas or Florida or New York.

This is how everything in life is resolved in a civilized society! The only exception was my 12th grade calculus teacher, there was only one way you’d get out alive, her way:lmao:

I remember sitting in the cafatery in Jr High after the different forms of goverment had been laid out, we all thought that socialism sounded pretty damn good. I grew out of that, but I know from one post I saw from my best friend back then he didn't, in fact I remember him telling one time in high school that I would have more friends if I wasn't so conservitive

My kids were thinking socialism was good when they were in high school too. Once they got out on their own and started paying taxes their attitudes changed quickly.
