Useless things about your day!

Can't see much from Calgary, rent a car and go west towards Banff. Bunch of hipster Dbags in that town but the scenery is nice.

Good way to kill a few hours. The snow today killed the scenery but gives me motivation to return.

dropped a few trees, was working with another guy, he was dragging them down with a cable while I was running my saw, so they'd fall the correct direction

on the very first one what's he do but start yanking HARD when I'm halfway through cutting the front notch
pinches the bar and starts it tipping over so I leave the saw and walk away, gets yanked 10' downrange from how hard he was pulling on it
my nice straight 28" bar new enough that it still had all the paint on it... is no longer straight, bent right at the replaceable sprocket end so I can't really manage to bend it straight, with the rivetted seam in there

get his shitty saw filed so it'll actually cut and all the rest of them go just fine
lesson learned, when you help someone out, use their tools and not yours

Every time I read that phrase, I think "captive bolt pistol" for killing cows headed to slaughter.

Never heard that term applied to bolt-action guns until ~15 years ago? Thanks Obama :flipoff2:

The newspeak is widespread & not going away, but Idiocracy-speak still gives me a WTF?

Could give a shit about obummer, news speak or whatever. Single shot, bolt gun, lever gun. wheel gun etc are all terms that have been around for a long while

Also...Its a ruger mag. If I didnt say bolt gun I'd get asked by all you fuckin hillbillies if a 10-22 will run shorts:flipoff2:

Usually make it most of a winter without falling.

Only have had snow and ice a few weeks and busted my ribs tonight.

Walking into the shop and said self, that's pretty icy, I should sand that.
Grabbed the 2" square tube holding the door awning thing (1/2 a culvert) to stabilize a bit, feet go fuck you.
Ripped the tube off the concrete and slammed my left side right into it as I fell.

Wasn't too bad other than blowing the wind out of me, but now a few hours later it sucks. The one angle that doesn't hurt as bad is nowhere near a sleeping position.

This better count as my 1 fall for the year.

square head lag bolt with fence wire wrapped around it

don't they metal detect the logs they're cutting?

Was high-beamed for no reason.

FYI he probably wasn't trying to be a dick. Alot of older truckers do that when people pass them to let you know you are clear to get back over at what they consider a "safe distance" in front of them
.

Huh, thought that was just for other trailers being towed to let the driver know the trailer was clear.
