Useless things about your day!

FYI he probably wasn't trying to be a dick. Alot of older truckers do that when people pass them to let you know you are clear to get back over at what they consider a "safe distance" in front of them
.
Sort of. They would switch off the headlights momentarily to signal you, not blind you with high beams when staring in the mirror!

The truck that had just passed would flash their running lights as a thank you for signaling they were in the clear.

People used to have manners :usa:

Huh, thought that was just for other trailers being towed to let the driver know the trailer was clear.
Some only do it for other trucks. Some do it for everybody. They also used to do it by turning them off like firstram said but alot of the younger guys who do it flash high beams instead. Im guessing because most of the newer trucks have lights that run all the time or are automatic.

Yep thats how i learned and always did it. I think that the using high beams instead comes from more trucks with automatic/always on lights because it seems more common now. It is a way bigger pain in the ass to fuck with the dial then just hit the stalk real quick. Also doesn't seem as common with modern truckers. Too many indians and russians and shit i think with their head up thier ass and fresh from Fordguys house of armenian truck and fuck.

Seems dumb for someone with spatial awareness (like people who drive their trucks through the forest, rocks and shit). Before the pitch forks come out, I know you need stopping distance and whatnot.

Nope. Janitorial lead up there.

ETA:
Pretty good chance that in the next few years this transition to facilities and maintenance manager and salary
Cool, you've been up there a few years huh? 5-10 it seems?

Ohh alot of them are dumb as shit ill grant you. Especially now. The quality of "drivers" out there is on the floor metaphorically speaking. Like i said really seems to be an older trucker thing anyway. Ya know the ones who aren't dumb enough to be offroading a freightliner cascadia because the gps said so.

I broke my elbow petty bad when I was 13ish. Got a pile of hardware put in and tore up some nerves. Other then my pinky finger and the right side of my ring finger always tingling like its asleep Its been "mostly" fine for 20+ years. Couple months ago it started bothering me, just sore, about a moth ago it got to the point it hurt all day every day, couple weeks ago it got weak like cant swing a hammer or pick something up with a bent elbow.

Went to the DR thinking the hardware is coming out or its arthritis. All that looks fine, his thinking nerve damage so I have a nerve test scheduled. I'm just glad they don't want to remove the hardware as they have to rebreak my arm to get it out.

Pics for those that care.

Gotcha, I guess I thought you moved up the hill some years ago, maybe true but job may have been different. :homer:

Covid works too. My bro works east DOT and there's a kid like sub 30 as a manager/super making good money cause there was no one to fill that role.

There is a young kitchen manager 23. I have been at the bottom of the hill since 2016. But only finally took a job up there last year. The pay is decent but the environment is really good I regret not starting there earlier.

My tacoma has had a weird clunk noise come up and I think I've got it narrowed down to a solid fix.

Speaking of fixes, I got fixed yesterday and they mention take it easy blah blah. So I did last night.

This morning I head out for my usual drive and I'm hearing super clunk upon clutch release and etc. I'm getting all paranoid that I'm gonna have to get the u joint replaced, springs replaced blah blah blah.

Welllll..... I opened up the canopy to check the bed and my wife had placed two bowling balls in there from the new yard to go to the dump. :homer:

she did that as a joke to you, ya nut less wonder! :flipoff2:

Two bowling balls, you wish.

Getting fixed was such a relief. Had mine done on April Fools day many years ago.

Went to eat with some friends before leave town last night.
As were waiting for them to show up I see another couple I know heading out the door and as the guy turns to go out, two of the Waitresses flip him off.
I have not laughed that hard in a long time because the only other time I'd been in there was with that same guy who informed me that, and I quote "I'm a big deal here"

Ribs still killing me. Not sure if i cracked one or what. Didn't hurt all the bad when I wacked into the pole but it's sucked since.

Didn't realize how much strength is from that area. Tried to hold a sneeze earlier and almost pissed myself. I can barely even lie down in bed. Couple spots not too bad, but nice a bit and 😨

Pallet jacking oil totes today and I came close to passing out.
All of a sudden got super sweaty, floor started swaying and felt like puking.

And im on a pain patch for my back,l so I'd imagine it'd hurt more than I can handle without that.

Dropped dead of a Heart attack. in the 10 years he lived on the street he got in fights with most of the people on the street. go to the point for a while that if I was outside he would stand in his yard a yell and cuss at me. called the city or police on people for bullshit. funny thing is he was living in a van and the later a trailer behind someones house and would not kick him out. he was quite the last year after he was told by the cops that they were take him to jail for yelling at the Kid who was living up the street. Plus he had a German Sheppard that had bit at least one person and would run the fence line barking non stop if it seen somebody. On S.S. do not being able to work from a triple bi pass.
