Trx4 axle breakage

I’m a total rc newb and took a couple in on trade. The previous owner/ builder knows his stuff and I’ve always considered them to be bulletproof….. However I drive with restraint and my “full send” 9 year old does not.

When one wheel went dead yesterday, my thoughts went to a portal gear, maybe axle shaft? Nope! I had fun showing my 5 year old all of the different parts and how I was inspecting them.

That's an impressive failure, especially for an RC crawler with portals.

Damn, I have yeeted mine with a 3300 kv on 4s for a few years and never had any breakage.

How long was it ran before? Just like the big stuff, sometimes shit will just break after lots and lots of use that is generally bulletproof otherwise
