What's new

Trump’s new Border Csar: Tom Homan

my point is, is it legal now, or do we have
dont do that. thats a cop out. have kids, raise them right. Be good, active parents. we need good people to have kids and raise them right.

Dont sit on the sidelines. have kids, be happy, raise them right, fight the evil with good, smart, independent children.

Dont make excuses and cop outs.

Hell... just move. Not all public schools are full woke libtardistan.

If they truly deport all or most of the illegal immigrants, there will be a large negative impact on the US economy. The vast majority of those people are here doing the jobs no one else wants to do. With low unemployment right now, there will be no one to backfill those empty jobs.
lots of folks will do those jobs, for decent money.

Unemployment isn't low. Govt teet suckage is just very high.

they will do it for regular money, if we cut off the welfare pipeline.
No No No guys we have to keep a permanent subclass of people in this country that drive down wages and can be abused by corporate interests because otherwise produce will be too expensive. or something.

As of October it is 4.1%. That is low compared to historical norm.

And everyone with half a brain knows the unemployment figures have been cooked since I don't remember when. Clinton maybe?

The .gov changed how unemployment was determined. Just like inflation.

And are you forgetting about the 7 million (I think) that just dropped out of the labor pool during covidiocy?

A lot of the "regular" seasonal workers already have work visas or green cards, for them to legally be here and work. Those jobs will be fine. It's the other 10 million border jumpers that simply come here to be a drain on our system that's the problem....

I'm sure it varies alot with region, but most of what looks like illegal labor in this area is legit green card dudes.

It will cause inflation.

You really believe all 15 million illegals are working and producing? Probably more than 15 million, but let's use that number.

None of them are causing inflation already by living in cheap housing? None of them are using the ER? Fire? EMS? Cops? Welfare? Schools?

They are all contributing to the taxes for everything they are using.

Sure

The numbers may be 'cooked', but less people to fill jobs will be a reality if millions of people leave those jobs.

Yep. Lots of Mexicans around here right now because they come in harvest the sugar cane. They're all green card folks. They're here to work and go home.

I'd say over 90% of the illegal border crossers have zero usable skills to be any benefit to the US. They're here to live off our tax dollars or worse.

What % of all the folks who illegally crossed the border in the last 4 years do you think have jobs now?
I have no idea. What do you think?

I'm guessing the crew who couldn't speak english and painted my house last year were not legal.

I'm guessing the crew who couldn't speak english and installed the hardwood floors in my master bedroom 2 years ago were not legal either.

It is obvious that everyone on this site wants all of them gone, so I will bow out from this discussion.

Gotta have that slave labor huh?

Doh!:homer:

Lot of bitching about inflation on this website.
Prices going up is not in and of itself inflation. Inflation is devaluation of the currency, like what happens when the government injects billions of dollars of pretend money into the economy.

If something costs more because the cost of labor to produce it has gone up that is simply supply and demand. We can complain about it, sure, but Inflation is its own thing and particularly insidious because it acts like a tax on the population by increasing revenue to the government and decreasing the value of its debt.

inflation is a result of Baseline Budgeting. You have built in growth of 7% for a large portion on our economy (The portion the government sector makes up).

In my simple way of thinking, you can't have baseline budgeting and NOT have inflation.

Found the problem.
If people like you would insist on seeing work visas/green cards, and we deport people without them, bingo, problem solved.
Immigrants would insist on being legal so they could earn, that would put pressure on the immigration system to get its shit together, free loaders would get the boot.

I’m a big proponent of fining the shit out of contractors knowingly using illegal labor.
Jailing people who are repeat offenders and those who aid by providing false documentation.

One of the biggest residential roofers in this area is a legal family from Mexico that mostly employs no habla workers. They're all green carded and father and sons in the business are illegal- haters more than any generic white person i know.

I haven't talked to the guy in years, but I doubt he's changed his opinion on the issue.

I will make one more post to clarify my position. I think the border should closed to 'plug the hole'. I think illegal immigrant criminals should be deported. I think illegal immigrants who are here AND working a job should be allowed to stay and put through the process to become legal. Any future immigrants would have to come through the proper legal channels.

No punishment for committing a crime to be here? Fast tracking someone who committed a crime? Doesn't that minimize the efforts the law abiding immigrants took?
