Truck equivalent of SxS build

How wides a 231/241 case? Frames on these are narrow. My 208 is tucked in the C of the frame
That's a good question.. I haven't measured them. I have a 241 in my crawler that I can measure. or I'm sure I can google a 231 dimension.. I don't know how narrow the frame is as I haven't brought the truck in the shop yet to do preliminary measuring for stuffing of 10lbs of shit in to 5lb bag..

OP. Buy a fucking SxS rather than spending 2yr doing a half-ass build that doesn't even come close or 5yr and 3x as much money on a build that does.

If you want travel and strength how easy would a D44 TTB be to fab underneath the Explorer?
Stupid easy. It's basically bolt in. There's a guide on TRS. You wind up with a track width between RBV and F150 because the pivot points are different (but not different enough that you need custom shafts).
Years ago there was a guy making pivot brackets to put D44 TTB under D35 Rangers,
I assume he went out of business when people figured out that if you cut the long side shaft a little the OEM brackets juuuuusssst barely work.
IDK if 1st gen expo are the same.
They are
IMO I think swapping to D44 TTB knuckles on the D35 beams gains some front end strength to do what he wants.
Also a good option.

I hate SxS’s and 98% of the people who drive them so I’m all in on something other than a SxS.

With that said, I saw you mention power to weight ratio. I think that’s less of an issue then suspension travel to weight ratio, I think the more travel you get the better off you are.

Buying a SxS is out of the question. (for now... wife still wants one eventually) Ill look into the D44 swap versus my cut and turned 35 I have now. At a minimum I'd do the D44 outers upgrade.

You already have a nice cut and turn setup, leave it

The way this is going I wouldn't be surprised to see OP buy a shitty Jeep and then put a 4Runner on tis roof.

LS engine mods, you will not need power at all. if anything you need stronger drivetrain... but i like where this is going.

I wouldn't buy a jeep for shit.. and definitely not paying 4runner prices.. I have a solid foundation with the explorer as a go fast truck.. just need more power and a few more suspension upgrades. I have a crawler already.. so no need for that..

You know your plan is bad when this guy is saying to take the easy out finance it option :flipoff2:

That's fine and all.. but not an option. For 30-40k I can build a hell of a truck. My crawler on tons and 40's was less than that including buying the truck.
IBB shit posters: why don’t we have more builds and Tech?

Also IBB shit posters: that’s never going to work, go buy something new.

:flipoff2:
Right? I want to build this truck for my wife to be as good as possible for what we want it for.

Just giving you shit. I had a $30k sxs and replaced it with a $500 Sami and have been happy.

I think where you're going wrong is trying to make it keep up alright a sport sxs. It's not just power to weight, but suspension travel and design combined with light weight.

Shit, even the $500k+ ultra4 cars aren't out running the sxs's by that much. I'll give you that they're modified, but the point is the same.

Oh, I don't have any dreams of keeping up with one. It's more of the style of driving my wife likes, and I'm building the truck to do that as good as possible within my budget.

I gotcha, lighten it up, add safety stuff and call it good.

Glass is heavy, she wants a sxs, sxs's Don't have glass, so ditch all of it :flipoff2:

Glass has to stay.. year round wheeler.. we have hot summers and cold winters.. plus wet days.. but she wants a SxS.. so we shall see.. get a donor and make half doors for summer.. with removable lexan.. lol

This is my buddy's old truck, it had D44 beams and coilovers in the front, not super wide, it worked well. No build thread that I'm aware of.
