What's new

Things you have found on the side of the road.

Found a brand new in bag with tags still on it north face sleeping bag a few weeks back. Looks like $300 new.

Also a Rubbermaid tub full of 1" plastic conduit pieces - union's, sweeps, connectors...
Reminds me of when I found a 5 gallon bucket 1/2 full of brass plumbing pieces spilled out some in the middle of a hairpin turn. Got 60 bucks for it.

People pretending that the bad outcome is guaranteed like that are a large part of why modern society is so fucked.
Guaranteed no, but if traffic is bad and it's in the lane of travel, I will not stop (and DannyK said that there was "a bit too much traffic to deal with")
If traffic is light and there's a safe way to do it, I will stop.
Seen too many people run the red lights 3-5 seconds after I get a green.

I almost stopped to pick up 3 bails of wheat straw last week, but a bit too much traffic to deal with, and I had my wife and son with me. It was an off camber intersection. They must have just tumbled off the top. Ended up paying $8.78/bail at Lowes a few days later. I should have stopped.
Jeezuz that's a lot for wheat straw. This are had a mega crop of it this year, the only farmer that baled it said he sells every bale he can come up with so he goes and cleans up his neighbors land too.

All we do with it around here is putting it in the wheel tracks for pivot irrigation so they don't get stuck. :homer:

Was out on a stroller walk and stopped to look at this. Owner came out, told me that two burners don't work, and the wheels were bad. I came back as soon as I could and hand trucked it home. It was filthy, so I scraped and cleaned it, cleaned out the wheels bearings, and now I have a perfectly good propane grill with a side burner, only issue is the thermometer thing does work, and I need to light it with the propane torch. Good enough for me.

It's a lot better if you're trying to go up a grade at at least the speed limit.:flipoff2: I've had both and the 82 2.8 S10 was the only vehicle I ever could tell a distinct difference after a KN Airfilter was installed. Went 3MPH faster up the South side of Hoosier Pass. From 55 to 58. HotDamn!

ETA: That's in 3rd gear attempting to wrap it out.
The 85 I had, I don't think ever got over 13-14mpg. Never did figure out how a tiny engine could suck down fuel like that.

All the parts are on Amazon. I rehabbed mine with new burners after the orginals turned to dust. New thermometer was cheap

Few tools over the years, about it.

This spring while doing highway clean up for our company I came up on a Samsung S7 active phone. After charging, it turned on like normal. Dudes last text sent was December of 20. It had been on the highway for basically two winters.
Called the guy up, he was very surprised to get it back. Phone must have fell out of his pocket while changing a flat two years prior was all he could come up with.
Good deed done for the year.
