And my Chaves Redencion Street Tanto.. my most expensive blade in my collection... and also one of my favorites.

I carry a Craftsman folding utility knife. I really like being able to just throw a fresh blade it and flip it around when it's dull. I particularly like this knife and it's very inexpensive @ $8.95.

I have a similar one I got at HF. I use it all the time, and really should carry it more at work.

All these knives, how about some advice/tips on sharpening them? Maybe I just need to buy a better knife? I'll post a pic and the name of it tomorrow, it's fairly new to me, I'm not impressed. I like the weight and shape just can't seem to get a decent edge on it.

Just a standard old folding Buck knife for me. I've got a few of them, this one is in the best condition of them. My father liked these too, I think mainly because our last name is Buck. haha

I have one just like that. My dad gave it to me. I bet they made millions of them and they are still good knives.

yeah, they probably made TONS of these knives. if I remember correctly, they used to be less than $15 at walmart. I've also got one or two straight bladed buck knives too, but don't use them much.

How much time and energy do you want to spend on it?
For the majority of my knives that just need sharpened, no dings or damage to the edge, I just use a soft Arkansas stone. I also have a couple of various large wetstones, but the Arkansas stone gets the most action.

If a knife is really rough or has more serious damage I will take it to my 2x42 belt grinder. When putting on an edge I use 220 grit then 400 grit belts.
After that I hone them on an 8" buffer with red rouge.

If you want to spend a bunch of time and money a KME or wicked edge system will hold the stone at a fixed angle while using finer and finer stones. You can even go down to micron films on glass to get a mirrored edge.

Some of the modern super hard fancy steels are a huge PITA to sharpen due to their hardness. Many of these I will take to the belt grinder just to save myself from spending an hour on the stone.

I've been carrying this forever, $11 crap big 5 on sale with a coupon, I run an orange handle speedy sharp over it probably daily, It truly is an indispensable piece of crap knife/ bottle opener.:flipoff2:

thanks, its a new knife, no damage.

Had a really nice one in my hands for a few days, but had to return it due to the lock bar being almost all the way over to the scale side. I’ll probably try this one again someday but not for awhile.

I carry a CRKT Drifter I found it at one of the elevators half buried in a dirt pile. I asked in the scalehouse if it belonged to anyone and they said it belonged to me. Score. The tip is cracked off from stabbing too many bitchs. Just kidding, I brokenit trying to spread pins on trailer electric connector. I just used a cutoff wheel and took off as little as I could and sharpened the end, it looks goofy but it works good for a free somewhat quality knife. Before this I always carried cheap knives because I always break them or lose them. Before that I carried an Old Timer that I bought when I was little till I almost lost it once now it lives in the safe.

I have no luck with pocket knives. Every fucking time I buy a good one it either gets broken (due to my own stupidity) or I loose the damn things. My latest is a Milwaukee rug knife I picked up a few weeks ago. Tip is already broken off. Apparently these are not screw drivers....

Been using a SOG Flash II for everyday use for the last couple of years. Durable, reasonably priced. For special occasions have a smaller buck folder or spyderco grasshopper.

Just put some titanium scales and a titanium ball cage on my Spyderco Manix 2. Hopefully I will carry it more now, didn't care for the texture on the G10 scales. It's the S110V version.

This is my everyday carry. Small sebenza 21. I have two. I carry one for 8-9 months until it gets dull , then swap it out. I typically send back to the factory for sharpening etc

Tried out a custom knife for my carry now. Like the smaller blade as it's less 'scary' at work.

For all your guys who think you need some crazy sharp and expensive knife that requires maintenance.

Meet the Milwaukee folding razor blade. Simply switch out the blade in what.. two seconds and keep going. Ya, some will hate until they try. :flipoff2:

12 or so bucks.

Blakes, too big for the blade size.
I carry a gerber EAB light in addition to my regular pocket knife.
If I am cutting something that would unduly dull or be bad for a regular pocket knife blade I use the razor knife. When the blade is trashed, I change it out.

Want one of these:
But don't want to spend that much on one.

My EDC…

Top- Kershaw Cryo. I have the Cryo 2, just don’t EDC it.
Bottom- Kershaw Ember (gift from oldest girl)

These are ”spring assisted opening” knives. The spring broke on my Ember. Kershaw’s warranty is awesome 👍🏻

you got a holster for that thing? that looks unweildy for a pocket. unless you're wearing overalls.

if i want to do that, then id carry my Havalon. which i might start doing one of these days. 50 pack of blades, surgical sharpness. only small complaint is the little plastic thingy you need to swap blades but whatever. it works awesome.
