I think at first I missed the sarcasm ^.
Turns out the machine should have the red flavor (warmer climate) but the machine was originally ordered by a dealership further north and I ended up with it and it had the blue in it.
When I picked up the replacement oil yesterday, all the dealership sells is Red. They argued with me that it wasn't blue, and was red. I showed them pictures and they said "huh, well put red in it as it will be fine". It took 4 gallons total which is impressive that I ran the machine that long before noticing the leak, but in my defense that AC was cold and the tunes were good, it was raining, and edge of dark.
Doing some reading on it and it appears that the difference is rather minimal in the normal operating range and these oils are more or less the same as AW32 (Blue) and AW46 (Red) and the additives are all the same. Right now the sight glass on the res has a nice light purple hue to it.
Once the machine is out of warranty (3 more years) I'll consider less spendy oil. For instance, the 50 hr service suggests tracking the machine around a bit and replacing the planetary oil in the finals, along with the main hydro filter and the case drain filter. Makes sense to get the break in materials out of it. Doesn't call for an engine oil break in change, but I might do one anyways. This is just a toy so I intend on keeping it overly nice.
Edit, I just looked at what you meant by 303... yea, nah... I don't use that in anything I own except maybe maybe an old log splitter from the 80s, but with 5 gallons buckets of AW46 from the leaking skid steer, the splitter gets that too.
