Washington — Texas state officials this week abruptly blocked federal U.S. Border Patrol agents from entering and patrolling a public area in the border town of Eagle Pass where they typically first encounter migrants who cross the Rio Grande illegally, two U.S. officials told CBS News on Thursday.

After seizing control of Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, Texas National Guard units deployed by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott have prevented Border Patrol agents from entering the area, the federal officials said. Border Patrol has used the park in recent weeks to hold migrants in an outdoor staging area before they are transported for further processing, including last month, when illegal crossings soared to record levels.

Earlier Thursday, Texas state officials prevented Border Patrol boats from patrolling that area, one of the officials added, requesting anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the press.

"They are denying entry to Border Patrol agents to conduct our duties," the official said, noting they are not sure "what authority (Texas officials) have over the federal government."

In a filing early Friday with the Supreme Court, the Justice Department described the extraordinary standoff between Texas and the federal government. Citing testimony from local officials and photos, the Justice Department said Texas was using armed Guardsmen and vehicles to deny Border Patrol agents and federal National Guard soldiers access to roughly 2.5 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border.

"Texas's new actions," the Justice Department said, "demonstrate an escalation of the State's measures to block Border Patrol's ability to patrol or even to surveil the border and be in a position to respond to emergencies."

Biden will call to federalize the TX NG and tell them to stand down. Theyll resist for all of 5 minutes until they get threatened with court martials and theyll all fold. TX dps will hold for a minute longer until a few of them and Abbott get arrested by DOJ and they rest will all walk away. Its awesome theyre doing it but it wont last.
 
Former president Donald Trump vowed during his Fox News town hall on Wednesday night to create the “largest deportation effort in the history of our country” if he is reelected in November, saying “we have no choice.”

Don't vote for him if you like the way things are going.

You may be right, but I dont think they care about how it looks politically. They want that future voter base regardless of short term fallout.

Trump cam say what he wants but he holds the record for the least immigrants deported in recent history.

Something happened in 2007 that cut deportations and they've never recovered. We should reverse whatever that was and move forward from there.

Where do you get the 8 million figure? The highest I've found was 3.3 million with 2.2 million apprehended (I don't know what portion of these are booted and what gets to stay) and 15 million total still here. And multiple sources are saying the leading source is over staying visas. There's currently 22 million active visas to the u.s. with over 6 million issued each year.

The dreamers aren't the problem. Those are the ones we should want. College educated, no criminal record, etc. I'm not saying they get a free pass or get to stay, but don't waste resources chasing people who aren't causing problems.

It's the ones working under the table and sending all of the money back home or the ones coming here to pump babies out to gain citizenship or traffic drugs and humans. The ones who have been here for years and still don't speak English or pay tax. Fuck those guys. And any minor criminal conviction or problem they need to go back no matter how long they've been here.

Deportation was down under Trump because there were less coming in due to his promises before the election to deport everyone and covids remain in MX policy. The vast number of deportations being reported are those immediately being returned across the border by Border Patrol and by Customs. ICE deports about 500 a week from the interior, on a good week.

They're doing 200-250k a month. For 3 years. So call it 150k contacts a month plus the gotaways, that gets you to the 6-8 mil range.

The government will never admit it truthfully.

I think that this is correct. "They" are the people behind the scenes. The hardcore leftists that control the show. Biden is just the lackey that has the key to the city and that will take the fall in the history books.

He will be dead and gone before the entire plan is fully realized and the political class will say something to the effect of.........well he was the president and made these choices with support of the people with the most votes in history but regardless, we can't have all these poor people living, working, and paying taxes in the USA without having their voices heard.........unless you are a racist bigot!!!"

"They" don't give a shit about Biden being the scapegoat and pushing the "blame" onto him.

"They" get to keep their Congressional seats with more and more population in places such as California to displace the people leaving and of course a larger voter base when they can get the House, Senate and WH again and make an amnesty/citizenship/voter status law ran through.

TX NG and DPS will be clearing out of the park within a day or two and BP will be doing what they have to do.

No BP agent likes helping the illegals, but the fact remains once they cross that line in the middle of the river, federal law says BP has to take them into custody. They just cant push them back. BP wasnt cutting razor wire to help illegals, they cut it to make them easier to arrest. The razor wire was several feet if not yards on American soil. It was already too far on this side of the border to do a damn thing.
