SxS general discussion thread

Avoid the RzR's if you can, they are pretty craptastic and don't hold up well.

I'd strongly consider looking at a Honda Talon R-4 if you are in the market. No belt bullshit to deal with, 6 speed manual/auto trans and the R 4 has the same 18/21" suspension travel the 2 seat R does. Prices on them are really good right now too, I've seen several 2023 Talon R4's at dealers for under $20k out the door.

A KRX would be my second choice.

It seems like the rzr is the f150 of the market, does most things will most of the time, but I'm all ears

I'm not seeing any decent pricing on 4 start talons, I'd you've got a link, please post it. My quad and dirt bike fleet is all honda, but I have been following Idaho yotas posts about them, as well as yours, so I'm on the fence

I'm cheap too. The Roxor is tempting for me because a willys that needs everything is getting expensive. With a tune the Roxor does highway speeds. It has D44s. It isn't 75 years old.

But it's not going to keep up with even the shittiest SxS on trails and I wouldn't even consider one as a SxS.

I get all that, just that I'm a 2weeks and 2k away from having the willys fresh, so I don't need a nearly like for like fill in.
Also I'm buying a little place in a rural mountain town and figure my 12yo can drive the rzr down the blacktop to the trails without much attention, whereas a jeep or samurai, or roxor that looks like a jeep might get scrutiny

Here are three Talons at my localish dealer. All three are equipped with the Fox Live Valve shocks.

Edit: type Talon into the search box to see what they have.

As far as RzR's go..... The suspension bushings suck and wear extremely fast. The CV's are powerwheels size and don't last for shit, the bearings in the transmissions are made of glass. The build quality and fit/finish is atrocious at best.

Friends don't let friends buy RzR's because nobody wants to tow your shit off the trails all the time.

I'm paying 680 a year for my 22 talon with progressive. My x3 is almost 100 a month through state farm.

I'll look it up when I get home, but I think my '23 commander is roughly $500/yr. That's a $23k machine.

Im About 100/month on a 2020 krx1000 plated with Montana tags

Another insurance related question. What does Full Coverage actually cover?

Way back in my ATV days, we had insurance on them, but it supposedly only covered Theft and Fire (I say supposedly since I never had to use the insurance for anything),

I have seen people hook a wheel on a tree and pull control arm brackets off the frame. A $20k RZR gets totaled and they get another.

That's good to know. I assumed Insurance stopped where the trail starts.

Maybe all dealers can gargle my balls, maybe not, but this one can:laughing:

They offered 23.5k otd as I was walking otd. Which is actually pretty close to just correcting the sales tax to the advertised 16,999 price

I'll keep watching these. This chain has 17 of these 24s for sale in the state

I'll look into the Honda and kawasaki as well, I dont need to be in any hurry here

The 1000XP's are a pretty proven machine but a lot of the time Polaris quality leaves a lot to be desired. See below.

Literally brand new Xpedition Northstar. Told the new boss to hop in and Bluetooth his phone to the stereo because it has an awesome system. He gets out after running it for a bit and a puddle of oil starts to accumulate.

That's the crank pulley bolt.

my buddy wanted to get him and his son SxS's. I suggested a Talon or KRX. He bought two turbo RZR's.
I took them on two rides the weeked they got them. I havent heard from him since, i guess we arent friends now

I swear one of them sounded like it was five years old right off the trailer. :barf:

I'm by no means a Honda hater, my 4 quads and 1 bike are all Hondas, I'm just looking for the best bang for the buck. I do need to look into the others as well.

Hoping to scoop up a new last years model machine, if not, I'll be looking at low your used stuff
