What's new

Stock Corvette: 233 mph

Same lap times. Which one is the super car?

That is a C8 Stingray on the left, def not a 'supercar'

Pagani and Koenigsegg are low production super car makers. They sell single digit numbers of their top line cars.

I also don’t get the hate for the Vette. Especially not the new Vette.
A little over a year ago I followed the GM team via LinkedIn.

I shoulda saved the posts but Koenigsegg has stated that the performance level is that of a Supercar, and he was amazed the GM could Mass Produce one.

If that isn't the Mic drop for :usa:

Then fuck yall all. Because all them exotics can't lite a candle to Big Red:flipoff2::usa:

The vast majority of people consider the Z06 and ZR1 Corvette to be a Super Car. If you feel otherwise, you are in the minority. Opinions are like assholes though, everyone's got one.

My buddy is the senior calibrater on gas engines at GM, he did all the tuning and certification on the engine in this Corvette, he said he's been working on it for the last 2-1/2 years. Pretty much any GM gas engine has his finger prints on tuning.

tell him thanks for the sweet windowed block at 6,000 miles on a V8 truck.

That is the thing with 'Supercar', it is not a clear cut easy to define thing as you can see just from this thread.

Some people feel it cannot be a Supercar if more than a few are produced, or it costs under $500k, or other shit.

To me a Supercar is rare, made of exotic materials, and most importantly; has a illogical level of performance.

To me the new ZR1 IS a Supercar.

LOL. this is America's first supercar.

Damn beat me to it I was coming here to say that. Also congrats to GM for doing what they do best.... Losing to ford and coming in second in the race to build an american supercar:flipoff2:...... Or is it third if ford beats you to the punch twice?:flipoff2::usa:

 beat me to it. I was going to say something similar about "we now know who to kick in the taint for afm". :lmao:

Like the tuning caused your problem. I'll bet you have a new engine and the same calibration running it. Not many people understand what goes into a calibration.

Combustion engineer?

so your saying its GMs vastly inferior manufacturing, components, parts and assembly that is to blame and not the calibration?

i hear you loud and clear.

You are leaving out the vectors, Hennessy's various boondogles, the saleen s7 and a few others I'm forgetting.
Just because you hate corvettes doesn't make the new z06 any less a supercar. The performance is staggering. Will be interesting to see how the reliability turns out.
I'm not a vette fanboy in the least, but give some credit for an engineering accomplishment.

So every engine blew up, got ya

The Calloway Sledgehammer C4 vette was going 255mph back in 1988. 233mph in a brand new vette, meh. Going slower 36 years later is not all that impressive considering all the technology that has come out since then.
1. That thing is ugly. Really ugly.

2. Top speed is a function of gearing and horsepower. Sling a higher r&p in the new vette, and itd go 275. But then the tradeoff is acceleration. The sledgehammer appears to be a phallic replacement device for rich old dudes. The zr1 seems like a competent track car. With mid engine, modern suspension and brakes, I know which one I'd take in the twisties.

3. I how forgotten how ass ugly c4 vettes are. They are pretty much the reason I don't like vettes.

The new Vette is even uglier in my opinion. It looks like an NSX and a Lamborghini had a one night stand and that was the result. :barf:

Nobody is buying a new ZR-1 and track daying it. The old dudes with sorts and NB sneakers are buying these to look cool at the country club.

255 is faster than 233 no matter how you slice it. With more HP and better aero the new one should be faster.....

36 years new technology.....
