What's new

Spinoff: are you drug tested regularly or tested when hired or not at all?

Hire and if incident only. Popped a guy I know for weed awhile back trying to get back here. 6 months later reapplied and was told can't reapply for a year if you fail the test. Since then they have stopped testing for weed cause no one can pass it.

Previous jobs, tested all the time. Any time I had to go onto a military base, Army Corps project, refinery, liquefaction plant/ etc.

Current job, tested pre-hire and not since.

If they test I'm screwed. I like my :smokin::smokin: Hell, I don't even drink any more (a couple here and there). I don't do it at work, during the normal day, if I have anything planned, etc. I know folks that smoke 24/7 and I can't do it. I treat it like drinking a few beers at night after all the days tasks are done. Really sucks that it could get me shitcanned. I don't know if the med card would be any defense.

FWIW I smoked as much as any degenerate in high school. Stint in the military and 20 years after I didn't even touch the stuff. Decided to become a pothead in my mid 40s!:lmao:

Only when hired in. First company I worked for would test you on your birthday. Nurse stood outside the door of the bathroom. One of the guys I worked with asked me to puss for him. “No thanks”. He ended up getting his fuggin intern to do it… :shaking:

I wouldn't have shown that guy my puss either.

2 tests at hire, randoms and/or get hurt(Big Aerospace company so have to pass FAA requirements).

Drug tests never was a worry for me. If they allowed pot smokers we wouldn't be in such a labor shortage, the hiring pool is very small.

well, you can probably guess why he joined the navy
and that you'd probably be making his whole month by pissing on him

You could be right. I think he's just a dumb ass that takes things too literally, but who knows. First world problems.

I remember working a job where the random testing was almost a monthly thing. It stressed me out since I enjoyed the occasional smoke. Now, I’m in a position where I was only tested pre-hire, and honestly, it feels like a weight off my shoulders! I get what you mean about treating it like a reward at the end of a long day. I’ve heard about folks navigating this with medical cards, but I’m not sure how much it really helps. For anyone curious, I found the Full Concentra Drug Test Guide helpful for understanding what to expect, if you’re ever facing testing again (ccwrc.org). It’s all about balance, right?

When I first got into the workforce, it felt like every job had some sort of testing—especially in industries like construction and security. Have you ever hot-boxed with Dirty Mike and the boys?

I was tested 22.5 years ago when I was hired on with my current employer and not again since. It doesn't matter to me since I haven't touched anything in almost 30 years. I don't even drink anymore.

When hired, accident and random. Also if you’re a smart ass and you shit talk your Millennial boss to his face, you might get a “random” drug test. But, it feels good when you drive back to the compound with the “Passed” paperwork to gently push against his sunken chest and walk off. No, I learned nothing from that incident and continued to do so until he got promoted.

Not a flex, I just don’t take people’s shit. Dude admitted he’d start shit with me to get me riled up and then didn’t like it when I gave it back. So one day I must have hit a nerve and got sent for a drug test. He’s one of those types that fails upwards but isn’t a leader type, at all. Nice guy but couldn’t take it when given back I guess. Oh well.

I have been subject to random testing forever.
It has been a while since a random test.
And the last few times a "random" test happened, it was only random for one person.
I worked rotating shifts, we had six shifts.
The first guy would get tested on a Monday. Then the next time the other 5 of us we on dayshift, we would get sent in, so only really random for the first guy.

I get drawn for a random about once a year it seems like.

last time i go down to Medical to piss in the cup I make a joke to the tech that it sure is funny I always pop for a random. It's like they know I am a safe test and pick me. He kinda chuckles and says I never thought of that..

We've got guys hitting it in the shop at work in vapes we can't do anything about. It's crazy that we can't do anything till they screw up bad enough people get hurt.

Was a roofer at a 80 man shop. Test at hire. Test once a year. Very few guys got canned unless they had fucked up badly. Once I was in the office.... the yearly test for me ended.
