Sore Dick Deals

$800 for their 5,000 watt generator is a smoking deal for anyone who likes trailer camping. I almost wish I could sell my 3500 just to buy the bigger one and leave it at my private campsite. The downside is the physical size of the unit, and weight.

Wish it was 220v. I need something to run the essentials in my house and that would be perfect if it were 220.

For those that use Ryobi One+ battery tools, directtoolsoutlet.com has refurbished products at 50% off, and blemished products up to 30% off.
Site is GTG for ordering from, except they have raided my wallet too many times with some of their deals.
I've ordered from them a couple times. This "deal" doesn't seem to be anything special

ryobi days is coming up soon at HD. you can do the "hack" to get a lot of the tools for right about the same cost as DTO's tools shipped.

seems like DTO is better deals if you happen to be close to a store. shipping kinda kills the prices

I got 2 more of the HP 4-1/2" grinders for $50 each ($129 ea currently at Home Depot). The shipping for one thing, or small things isn't great, but the flat rate $15/order shipping is good, if you happen to find more than one thing to spread it out on. YMMV.

My only HP grinder shit the bed in just over a year with light use. It'll still work, but I have to work the switch about 20 times....most of the time it'll just turn on for a half a second but eventually it'll grab and stay on....until you bog it down and it shuts off and you have to start over again. :shaking: I have an original blue grinder and a brushed green one that have both been put through hell and keep kicking.

I'm repairing a milling machine top end at work and needed some so, I bought a set yesterday at full price. They are better than the cheap convertibles but suck compared to my Knipex set. They are certainly worth $30 if you don't have a set.
I have been thinking about saving up for Knipex, but for my seldom use these at $30 might be just the thing.

All I have is OEM tools convertible set from a long ago (one with exchangeable tips).

Read on garage journal that some order Knipex precision set off of amazon.de and save around $100 doing it that way.

I ordered mine from amazon.de and saved about $60ish. The Icons aren’t terrible but they don’t seem to grip the smaller snap rings that well. You know, the ones you can’t hear hitting the ground

Someone remind me on Tuesday and I'll get the snap ring pliers and be all your's guinea pig

brushed green Ryobi grinder is $40 if you return the batteries for the current sale.

I'm going to grab it. I had 2 to swap between and 1 got stolen. I'm sick of swapping the flap / cutoff wheels back and forth, and I'm too lazy to pull out an extension cord for little shit work to use the "real" grinder

I only need so many Ryobi batteries :homer: and they're the "basic" ones, not HP

can't justify M18 costs, so Ryobi works for me as a hobbyist

I picked up a set around when they first came out (02/2020) and have been using them since then. No complaints.

I see some reviews online saying they've broken tips off of them without even trying. I've wrestled with some decent snap rings with them and have not had any problems.

What do you want to know about them?

I had one of the super shitty snap ring plier sets from around 2009 from HF. They sucked and bent with a bigger snap ring. Since they are lifetime warrantied they didn’t have the same ones. Since they had the part where you could adjust whether they pinched or spread the snap ring the icon set was the most comparable according to the guy at the store so he warrantied my shitty set and I got the icon set. This was around 2018. I have been happy with them. I don’t use them often. I would bet the knipex ones are better but for $30 you and the Chinese will be happy.

Ordered a couple of the flashlights online. In 5-7 days i can give a review…
I had a pair of the older version of those lights, before Icon was a thing. I really liked them, still have one, they don't like being left out in the rain over night.

When I saw the non-sale price of the new replacement Icon version, I decided to buy these Neikos instead, 2x for less than the same regular price as the Icon. I've not used them near enough to have a good review yet, but so far I'm pretty pleased with them. I don't really need the UV light function, already have a UV light for resin and dye, but it's a feature the HF doesn't have.

I went to HF for the light yesterday. They started the day with 35 in stock and by the time I got there they were gone. Computer said 3 were still in stock but they couldn’t find them. Walked around the store to see if they were stashed but didn’t find any.

I bought mine online, because it said it was only good for yesterday, then went in to buy the gantry crane they said they had but it was the floor unit and “they cannot sell it…”. They were also out of the light that they said was still on sale today. Today ended up like 4 Mondays all at once.:mad3:

Went to HF about 20 minutes after opening this morning and not a set of the snap ring pliers to be found. Website showed in stock and the employees acted confused like they didn't even know about the deal. Pretty sure they just hide them for themselves or their friends. :shaking:

Ended up just ordering them online and paying the extra $7 for shipping. Still a :smokin: deal.

Fuckers.

I won't be able to go until after work. Hopefully my store has some left.

All of my close stores were out of stock by noon. I overheard the manager of one store unhappily talking about how they've been strangely low on stock of all of the deal of the day items for the last few weeks.

With the $7 shipping the icons get real close to this gearwrench kit I've been eyeing for a few months. I've used a screw style before and always liked it, just never actually owned one.

Now it's time to go back and forth on which to order, miss the icon sale, and eventually buy neither and just carry on with my old floppy reversible pliers :flipoff2:

Order Icons online.
Likely be easier to warranty vs GearWrench, if need be.

Gearwrench is supposed to have a good warranty. Fill out their online page, submit a picture, and get a new one in the mail for free. I haven't had to do it yet but I haven't heard anything bad about it from trusted sources
