Is there any company that makes sn adapter to delete a fan clutch for an 03 4.0 tj? I really don't want to do electrical adding another failure point. Or is there a redneck way to lock out a factory fan clutch before I cut the shaft and just weld a standard adapter to the nut without a good way of trueing the spacer. I wouldn't even care if I have I to change the water pump as long as I could keep the serpentine belt.

Did you try your local napa APS ?

Have always had a fan spacer connected to direct mount fan.

I assume you mean like this ?

It's not the standard 4 bolt but the single nut that threads onto to water pump. I did think about getting a steel spacer and just welding to the nut but I don't have a good way to keep it true.
 
OP, do you know what the threads on your water pump are? If you know the threads I'm pretty sure either Hayden or 4-Seasons has thread specs in their catalog so you could buy a mechanical clutch based on the threads and then a fan for whatever application it's for.
 
Pop the bimetallic spring off and give the center shaft a turn or two. I think I went counter clockwise.
 
I think I found an adapter that screws onto the threaded shaft. Got it ordered and will post up a link if it works. I play around in mud to much but the kids enjoy it so I probably won't stop. Same reason I can't relocate the rad and I've seen to many electric fan failures to want to **** with that. Only thing I mightve ****ed up on was rotation. I'm pretty sure it's reverse rotation so that's what I ordered....course now thinking about it it might be standard. Lol.

Bc if you hit mud or water it kills the fan clutch. I carry a sprayer to wash to wash out the rad. I'd like the damn fan to keep pulling air after my dumbass gets pulled out. Electric fans would be great I've just had nothing but bad luck with them in the past and don't want to go that route.

Fuseable links sound good until the 10th time you've changed that part and are really sick of doing it.

Fixed fans will go straight into the radiator. Run an electric on a thermostatic switch or keep the fan clutch.
 
You should try look into “flex” style fan.


They’re to be direct bolted to pulley. Flex fans’ blade pitch are made to deflect at high rpm, and I suppose in water and mud too.

They're also known for exploding if you rev the piss out of the engine (race car **** high RPMs, nothing a crawler or trail rig will see) so I'd kind of expect the same result if you dunked one in water at any RPM worth mentioning. :laughing:
